Road Salt Removal

Recommended Posts

I absolutely love this truck and try to keep it as clean as possible. Here in the North East road salt is the death of our vehicles. What do you guys use to remove the road salt ? We do a lot of hunting that time of year so the salt really builds up. I know it's a little early, but I want to be ready. Did I say I love this truck.

Just make sure you do something to prevent the rust. I have my truck oil sprayed in the fall before the snow flies. As far as the salt removal, I just take it to the car wash and spray it off underneath.

I am a huge fan of Fluid Film, and getting under the truck a couple of times a year to make sure the wax frame coating is intact, as well as the painted surfaces. I wash the truck weekly, sometimes more in the winter months. I actually used high temp satin clear paint and coated the bare castings under the truck, such as the transfer case, front diff, and rack for added corrosion protection. My 2013 still looked great underneath after enduring 4 harsh, salty winters.

During the winter I use the manual car wash spray off wand. I then come home and hand wash in the garage

I don't live in Saltville, but if I did, I would pre-treat the undercarriage regularly, and use an automatic car wash that has an "under wash" option. The car wash can rinse the frame for an extra $0.50 in this area.
