I have the afe momentum gt. All they do in my opinion is add a little air sound no noticeable difference.

I love mine from Cold Air Inductions.

I love the growl when you get on it

It got me a speeding ticket the first week though ☹️

I really wish there was some information on a CAI for the 5.3. I saw the BlackBear results but I've got to imagine there is a difference between the 5.3 and 6.2.

Edit: I just visited the rest results site (http://blackbearperformance.com/IntakeTestResults_2016.asp) and it looks like I was wrong. I don't recall any statement on results being applicable to both 5.3 and 6.2 engines but maybe they added it after they received emails or I just missed it.

So are the dyno results from Black Bear wrong then? I don't know how increased numbers relate to placebo but I'd love to know more.

I think the general consensus is the power they add is way up in the rpm range that most of us don't bother taking our trucks to. With that said, I think they are worth it for aesthetics and the sound alone! But I still don't have one.

This is from the Black Bear test they ran some time back. Admittedly I can't tell exactly what the min gain is here and you're 100% right in terms of gain in HP but the torque numbers are higher pretty much throughout the band (slightly larger toward the end, but still close).

Now, that said I did grab the best performing of the bunch and I'm talking about it with a heavy bias toward torque numbers. That said it's still gains across the whole band. Whether you actually are able to notice those gains or they are worth the cost is a totally different argument. The fact they are there proves it's not a placebo.

Edit: forgot to add image.

I have a truxp air intake on my truck (rebranded k&n intake). I have no idea and don't care if performance increased on my truck, I can tell you my truck sounds sweet when I get in the gas so in my opinion well worth the $200 I paid for it.

Yes, the Volant shows a healthy increase at roughly 2600 RPM, which isn't too far up the band.

Please refer to the Blackbear dyno test results. Some have shown a 25 HP and 20 LbFt increase Bang for the buck is the Volant. They are $323 with the non-oiled filter.

One thing I didn't and still don't understand is how BB got 291hp on a stock 6.2, that's a MASSIVE drivetrain power loss. Hennessey got 362hp on the same L86 motor (420hp) which seems more appropriate for drivetrain power loss. That's a 71hp difference on stock power which seems huge. I've always trusted BB, but 291 just seems EXTREMELY low, which makes me question the results of the entire test:
