OBD2 Splitter

I'm looking to by a Range device to keep my truck in V8 mode all the time......looked under the dash and found that the dealership when installing the Auto Saver rust protection system is using the one & only port.  Do any of you have information on buying / using  an OBD2 splitter?  I see them on Amazon......just have no real experience in if these things work OK without causing issues with the trucks systems.  Thanks!

Had it in the truck for 2 weeks no problems other than On star report can't read somethings but I don't have onstar anyway

Yes sir.....the little blue light under the dash is indeed the Auto Saver.  I'll check out the item Theesmith14 pointed out, and thanks for the info.

They don't apply it to the inside of the cab but his post would lead you to believe they did.

The OBD port is in the cab under the dash. But I fail to see how it got rust protection in it.

I have not heard of this device before today. But I do know that steel hull boats and water towers both have cathodic protection since they are in contact with water. Using a current achieves the same thing as a sacrificial anode. You are trying to control/limit the spread of rust by affecting the chemical process by which it forms. This device sends a current into the vehicle somehow. very interesting.

Auto Saver rust protection is a joke.  It has been proven to do nothing and can actually cause problems with the vehicle electrical system if something isn't grounded correctly or a bare wire touches the body somewhere.  They have numerous BBB claims filed against them.  I would take it out.

 

If you still want an OBDII splitter for other things the Amazon ones should work fine.  When I installed my Amp steps I bought one of theirs and it works great.  It cost a little more than the ones on Amazon but is well built and comes with a bracket that bolts it right into place where the factory one is so you still have an empty port just below the steering column that Techs can plug in to.

We put a charge on steel gas mains for this purpose but if the steel is not wrapped it does not work , matter of fact it could speed up corrosion 

it is Cathotic protection
