2016 Silverado cargo lights above rear window

I have the LT model and I wanted to replace the stock bulbs in the lights above the rear window that light up the bed the cargo lights NOT the light in the actual bed 2 questions 1 what model LED Phillips bulbs work best and is it a simple plug n play ? Or because I'm switching to LED bulbs does there need to be another modifications ?

Plug n play. Phillips 921. Believe there are two of them up there.

Torx bit to get the 3rd brake light out. 2 screws. Will take all of 30 seconds.

You can replace your reverse lights in your tail lights with these as well.

If it doesn’t power on, just flip it. The polarity was wrong on a couple and I just flipped them the other way and all good.

all the stores around me have Sylvania dammit im gonna have to order them online is there any other bulbs in the 2016 lt model you would suggest switching to LED since im already ordering  ? like the red light above rear window license plate lights tail light bulbs eat....?

license plates are 194's so far i only did the reverse lights, cargo lights and license plates. if you change the brake lights you'll have to put a resistor on them due to them also being the turn signals. The 3rd brake light shouldn't need a resistor due to it only being a brake light.

Trust me on this one - while you’re up there replacing the bulbs, take some clear silicone and run it on the foam gasket on the 3rd brake light when it’s off. They are notorious for leaking. I had 2 leaky ones and my silicone trick has worked just fine after that.

if I replace the interior dome lights with LED bulbs do you know if its plug n play or would I need a resistor ? im trying to get better lighting inside

No resistor required for lamps that do not require the BCM to flash them.

Interior dome lights are led already. I added some oznium leds under the foot wells and under the seats for the backseat lighting.

that looks good and clean. I was gonna do that next first I wanted to see if replacing the dome lights to brighter bulbs would help. do you know what type bulbs are in the dome lights ? or should I not even bother and do what you did ? im assuming you wired them in so them automatically come on when other interior lights come on or did you put them on separate switch ?

since im replacing the cargo lights is the bulbs for the brake (red) bulbs the same 921 ? I might as well replace all the bulbs in there while its open how many bulbs total ? 2 for cargo and 1 or 2 for brake light ?

I didn’t mess with my 3rd brake lights, just the cargo leds. Cargo and reverse are 921. I wired the interior leds to the dome circuit so they come on when the regular dome lights come on. No extra switch. There’s a thick gray wire in the A pillar that I tapped into. There’s videos on YouTube on where exactly that wire is and how they tapped into it. 

 

I tied all 4 positive wires into one and tapped into the gray wire. Ground wires for the front 2 leds are tied together and grounded on a bolt on my center console on the drivers side. Rear leds are grounded to the bolt on the rear of the console.
