Remote star run time

Does anyone know if you can increase the 10 minute run time when using Automatic Start? Was try to see if there was a way I could make it run for 15 minutes before shutting down.

When you remote start the truck repeat the process again and that should give you 20 minutes.

I don't believe you can .... this is intended to prevent people from starting vehicle in a garage with the remote and it running long enough to fill the garage / house with carbon monoxide ...if you forget about it

if you repeat process during first run cycle it will reset the clock ... and run for the 10 min from there ....but will not run 20 min ..

example.. you start truck  it runs 3 min ... you re do  start process it will run and other 10 ...for a total of 13 min ....

I'm pretty sure it runs for 20 minutes. Well at least mine did last time I tried it. OP can try it and get back to us.

My '15 owners manual says you can get a max of 20 minutes.

That's good to know. In the winter time, I don't like when I can't get out the door fast enough and my engine shuts down before getting up to operating temperature . I remember reading it is not good for GDI engines.

So in other words, I can let it run for 8 minutes and then hold the engine start on my remote to get a total of 18 minutes?

What's your manual say?  In the GMT900s you can hit remote start twice, up to 10 minutes each time, before you must put the key in the ignition to reset that feature.

Sheesh! It's called an "Owner's Manual" --- use it for something other than a drink coaster!

Fortunately, the OM can be downloaded electronically so it's not necessary to go out to the truck.

 

from the 2018 version:

 

"Extending Engine Run Time
The engine run time can be extended by 10 minutes, for a total of 20 minutes, if during the first 10 minutes Steps 1 and 2 are repeated while the engine is still running.

An extension can be requested 30 seconds after starting.
A maximum of two remote starts, or a single start with an extension, is allowed between ignition cycles.
The vehicle's ignition must be turned on and then back off to use remote start again."

If 10 min of warm-up does not meet your needs then I recommend investing in an interior car warmer. When I lived up north these were common.  You set it up on a timer to have it start an hour or two before your planned departure.  Your car's interior will be thawed.  Your car's engine doesn't require 10 min. to warm up.

My normal operating temperature is about 210 degrees. In the winter time, 10 minutes only gets it to 180 degrees. I don't like the engine shutting down before it hits the normal operating temp of 210 degrees.

The interior is perfectly fine after 10 minutes but sometimes I get caught up at work or home before I can make it to my vehicle in 10 minutes.

I'm just trying to keep the engine from shutting off after 10 minutes. Nothing more, nothing less.

yes  after the 8 minutes  you hit the lock button and hold the start button as you did the first time 

it will only do 2 cycles ( total of  your 18 minutes in your example... then you must  insert the key and turn it on)  ...to reset  start circuit

side note ...the climate control system will run the vehicle  in the last mode you left it before you shut key off ... soo if you are looking to defrost window in morning ....make sure  heater controls are in defroster mode before you turn  key off the night before .... also 

 if you accidentally left wipers on ... they wont  work during  starter mode ..as to not  break them if there is snow on windshield .. for us new Englanders
