Just depends on where you live, some recyclers sort on their own, others require pre-sorted. But getting back to the original intent of the post, HOA's can be a real PITA! Mine even hires "enforcement agents" that drive around in the middle of the night looking for even the most minor violations like your garbage being set at the curb to early. I've often been tempted to leave a rusty old engine block hanging from an engine hoist on the driveway to see how long it would take them to bring the hammer of Thor down upon me, lol.

I hear you there. I live in a townhome complex and the HOA will send a tow truck through the parking lot on a regular basis and have any vehicle towed that is in violation. They think they are the federal government.

Where  we live is a "non-maintained" county road.  That means, it's a dirt county road and they do absolutely nothing to maintain it. OTOH,  the more I learn, the more I like it, if that makes sense.
