2018 Sierra SLT or wait for 2019

Got her.  Here she is next to my 08.  Love it.  I did the test drive and she was smooth up to 70.  On my 950 mile home I noticed a vibration at 78-80 and then it clears up so I'm thinking it's a tire issue. Will bring it to my local dealer for a road force balence and go from there

Pretty truck, might’ve been the tires worn flat spots. My 14 did that, switched tires completely fixed it.

Last thing is that the horse power is the same on the 5.3’s and the 6.2 is like 10 horse power more with less 10 pounds of torque from the 18 and because it’s a new 10 speed they had to borrow technology from Ford. There’s an article on it I’ve read.

That 10-speed tranny was a Ford/GM combined effort to design it.  GM didn't borrow it, they both got together and designed the thing.  I'm waiting until someone comes out with a 12-speed, lol.  I think 8 speeds is more than enough.

I understand Ford's need for the 10-speed to help keep that little ecobootht (lisp intentional) in it's power band because power drops off horrendously quick as RPM's climb past peak power.

I think GM should double turbo the 5.3 and show Ford what a real truck engine looks like!  :-)

I'm good with mine haha

good job mandingo, where did you buy? im from Sunnyvale, I got mine from Thompson GMC in Patterson.. worth the hour or so drive to Patterson.

huge rebates etc too. paid a lot less.

I hope to buy the refresh of the incoming model. You never want to buy the first year of a complete redesign.

the refresh as I predict will have similar changes like in this picture. notice the hoodlines?  the refresh, possibly in 2022 will follow a curved hood and grill, unlike this 2014 you see in the pic. mine is the 16.

One good thing about the horsepower stats not improving in the 2019 is that my 6.2 isn't down on power comparatively lol.
I know my 2015 will still weigh more but hey it's still amongst the top dogs. ( I tell myself this so I don't even consider buying the 2019.) Not that I'd buy a new platform with all the possibility of bugs and GM who can't figure anything out when it comes to actually FIXING something.

The 19’s hp and torque is not impressive at all

No brother, your 6.2 is the top dog and I’m not crazy about trying out something that hasn’t been done before meaning the carbon fiber, plastics and mixture of other things making up the whole bed and aside of this you’re possibly getting into a world of headaches with the new 10 speed transmission as it’s being tested by the consumer. I wish GM the best in sales and kudos for them trying out something new but the engine specs are not at all impressive.

U got mine at Mataga gmc in stockton. Paid around 43-44 before taxes and fees. Wanted to get the 6.2 but decided to go with the 5.3 since I drive a lot in town but u got the 8 speed tranny with it so it will haul pretty good since I'm planning on buying a malibu or mb wakeboarding g boat next year
