Hey everyone. Does anyone have any experience with swapping out the oem rear glass (non sliding window) for a sliding window version?

I will be keeping it to strictly OEM parts and getting the dealer to do the swap but anything i should look out for along the way?

also.and I know this question is coming, initially it will not slide until I set up the wiring/ switch to make this happen. For now though, just the look alone of the sliding rear window is much more appealing to me :D

The upgrade should be a drop in. You’ll want to ensure you get it sealed right. I’m not sure what this entails... maybe a glass/windshield shop to install.

You should be able to get all OEM parts - Switch, motors, etc. The rear window defrost (if you have it now), should be the same connector on the driver side of the window.

Here is a pic of the open/close motor.

are you sure you want a motorized version?  doesn't gm make a regular sliding rear window? I myself would rather have a simple version. ( less stuff to act up and break}

I wasn't necessarily looking for a power sliding rear window, but my 2017 came with one as part of the 'LT plus package'. I find myself using it quite a bit more compared to the manual slider I had in my Toyota, simply because I don't have to climb in the back to open it. You'll definitely enjoy it!

A manual rear slider on a regular cab is fine but on a crew cab it would not be worth the switch, imo.   If you regularly have passengers in the backseat who can open and close the window then it might be useful.  My memories of a non-powered slider on my '85 Ford Super Cab is hitting the freeway and forgetting my slider was open.

at this point, from a looks perspective, im only interested in putting in the rear window with slider. ill work on making it power slide down the road.

might be silly but i just like the look better lol.

from what im reading its all one complete unit and is just a simple drop in. should be relatively easy for the dealer to do. nothing out of the ordinary
