Update on broken push rod.

Had push rod on cylinder 4 break on 06/10/2018. Broken piece made it’s way into the cylinder and caused enough damage that the engine had to be replaced. After 19 days, get truck back, dip stick not pushed all way in, so I think I have an oil leak because of the amount in the engine compartment. Back to dealership, can find no leaks, just the mess left behind from the engine swap, excatly what I want to hear about my $62,500 truck with 20000 miles. Day 4 back in my possession and now I have a CEL, pulled code P0340, any ideas on WTF is going on now? I know they use some of the original parts, but this sounds a lot like human error. If I pulled this kind of crap at work; I would be fired!

Sorry to hear all this.  Sounds like they rushed it and had guys work on it that didn't care.  They should have kept it a day longer and drove it around to make sure all was well before releasing it to you.  Hope you get this all sorted out.

Sounds Like they forgot to do a Camshaft position sensor relearn. That's the code you are seeing.

If they forget to do it it usually pops up in a few days.

I had a Steering Rack changed in a 2010 Traverse and it leaked fluid out of the sub frame took it back they cleaned it kept leaking.

So I flooded my sub frame with dish soap and water and managed to get it all out.  The dealer sucks at cleaning fluids.

$62,500?

I gotta tell ya man. For that kind of scratch, I would just buy a new Dodge Viper, or a used Lamborghini Countach.

MSRP, only financed $30000.00 after trade value of 14, trade allowance, rebates and so on. Do you think they would have treated either of those any better?

Damn that hurts. My 6.2L is going in today with a AFM/trans related issue. Hopefully not an internal issue at this point. If my motor went and they bastardized the swap, I would trade it immediately.

Dealers are given a timeline for warranty work. If the timeline is 10 hours for a motor swap, that's all the want to put into it. If everything is hooked up and working at hour 10 and the truck is a dirty mess, chances are the dealer will not put in 1 hour of unpaid time to clean up the mess for you, unless you're a valued customer. Customer service is getting harder and harder to find.

At the dealership right now, have already spoke to my salesman and GM about finding a new truck. CEL went out this morning, now they are trying to figure out why it came on, and why it went away.

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
