Bad intake gasket?

I’ve investigated my p0101 and my MAF sensor and connection look really good.  No cracks in the intake tube.

 

p0101 only throws when towing a heavy load and accelerating up a hill or up to highway speed. 

 

Does this likely mean my mass air flow issue is due to a faulty gasket on my intake manifold?   Honestly I’m half tempted to ignore the issue because it otherwise is not noticeable and gas mileage is fine.  Only symptom I’ve seen is blackish smoke coming from my tailpipe if so hammer on the accelerator

Have you tried cleaning it? MAF cleaner that you spray on to the fine wires. There are posts on how to do this.

Of course, check air filter and wires to the MAF.
