Silverado LT and Sierra SLE

The LT and SLE appear to me to be the most common trim levels of the gm 1500 line.  In all likelihood my next truck will be a LT  that has been sitting on my dealer's lot for awhile.  I owned a 2000 LT followed by a couple of SLE 's.  I cannot find a preference between a Sierra and a Silverado and base my choice solely upon options and price.  I find this odd because the two models actually look quite different.  My one personal preference in favour of the Sierra is the stitching on the  dash of the SLE.  However,  this would do little to influence my choice.  We all know the similarities of the Sierra and Silverado but was wondering if there is a difference that makes one the hands down favourite for you?

To me both trucks are the same, I just go by which appeals to my eye and make me tingle inside. The Sierra did it for me the last two times.

Believe it or not I would have waited for the 18s with the 100 yr anniversary badge but I bought before it was announced  the 18s would be getting the badge-ing ,  that would sway me for the silverado over the gmc ,

Always depends on the year for me. One year I hate the GMC grill/headlights and the next I love it.  One thing I don't like on the GMC is the trim around the wheel openings. Otherwise, I could rock the GMC just as easy. As a matter of fact I have a couple times.

Everyone that has them loves the red dash and lighting. Not me.  My wife has a Terrain and I cant stand the red. But in the end they are the same truck.  A GMC is just a Chevy with lock washers standard :)

It all boils down to personal preference. When I ordered my 2016, I liked the front end of the Chevy better and that's really what sealed the deal. The Sierra had some different packages that I wasn't crazy about. Like, if you wanted 20" wheels, you also had to get the oval steps which I didn't want. Just little stuff like that. On the flip side, I thought about doing a Denali cluster swap in my LTZ, but the red lights won't match anything and my OCD can't handle that I'm afraid. Can't go wrong with either one.

When I bought my LT, I drove an SLT, in black. Truck was clean and sharp. But.... it had that god awful 6 cyl engine and it just bummed me out. Drove an LT an hour later and realized, I didn't need all the bling, saved thousands, got what features I did want and am very happy now. Silver is SO much easier to keep clean. :)

I will admit the interior is where the difference is. But, it costs more. What is bling worth to you?

the sierras tend to be a tad more expensive, at least here in the northeast.... i had a 2014 sierra but i thought both variants were ugly, the silverado and sierra. these new 2019 silverados look gorgeous imo. whereas the 2019 sierras just look plain to me

It is only out of interest that I compare the Sierra to the Silverado.  I've always considered them the same with the exception of a little more lipstick on the Sierra.  Here is a fair comparison, imo.  https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/silverado-vs-sierra    The  suggestion that there is a difference in reliability between the two in this article came as a surprise.  Maybe forum member mccabe has a point about the use of lock washers! ?

I would buy whatever was cheaper with comparable options. My local GMC dealer was bigger so better deals. I did like the grill area on the GMC better.

If I could do it all over again, I'd go with a Sierra.  I got a smoking deal on a Silverado LTZ, but always like the more curvature appeal of the Sierra. Plus, I like the black trim around the wheel wells.

I’ve always loved the LED lights on the Sierra over the Silvy. I was all set buy a Silvy LT though and then GMC had some monster discounts on SLTs making them cheaper than LTs, so I now have an SLT in my driveway and love it! Except for not having max tow and a rear slider, it’s near perfect (for now...).

in my opinion the GMC looks better. also has plastic around the wheel wells to prevent rock chips and rust. most all manufactures have started doing this.
