VTBulldog Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Hi guys, I am getting back into Firefighter/EMT with my town since they are hurting for help. I have a lease so I am looking for some hideaway lights, or grille lights. Show me what you guys have, and where you got it! Thank you!
leoshorty Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Just my opinion- stay away from hideaways that are drilled into stock housings, I’ve never seen a set yet that didn’t end up leaking and discoloring the whole assembly. I just picked up my ‘18 Silverado SSV last week so I’ll do a build thread eventually and it will have lights etc for work.
99silveradoz71 Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Another easy option you may want to consider being it's a lease is the Speed Turtle 2. I plugs in under the dash and is a flasher for your factory lights. That coupled with a dash light or bar may be good.
leoshorty Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 I don't think the Speed turtle works with our trucks, after 2016. Not sure what the difference is.
aseibel Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 I have a speed turtle that I use when plowing. Yes, they didn't have the software for the newest trucks when I bought mine, luckily mine was 2 years old when I got it. I would recommend e-mailing them to ask if they will have the update out soon, or possibly you can just get one anyway and it only lacks some of the options? Its worth looking into for flashing lights with no physical mods to the leased truck.
VTBulldog Posted August 13, 2018 Author Posted August 13, 2018 Thanks for all the input guys. I looked at the visor lights along with the speed turtle, so I am going to look into those further.
JesseSPI Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 Did it workout with the speed turtle? I’m interested in purchasing one.
mojohn Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 Worth every penny to me. '17 Silverado. Best, John
jqcitizen Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 I have the Speed Turtle 3 on my 18 LTZ and love it. Very easy to use. I am also a dealer for Feniex LED Emergency lighting. take a look at http://www.feniex.com and let me know if there is anything you might be interested in. Will post video of my Silverado lit up shortly.
lostgoat Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 Following this topic. I have been wanting to install lights and siren in my 2015, but haven't been able to come up with a solid game plan. My lame little visor light just doesn't cut it so maybe this will provide some inspiration. I love the idea of the speed turtle, but I am nervous about plugging after market stuff in to the factory obd2/computer.
jqcitizen Posted April 26, 2019 Posted April 26, 2019 the speed turtle 2 had issues, Have not heard of issues with the speedturtle 3.0
