Brembo performance brake packages for Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL and Escalade distributed through GM dealers and authorized retailers

Contenuto pagina

Brembo, the world leader and acknowledged innovator of brake technology, together with Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac, introduced an all-new Performance Brake Upgrade System for the Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban and the GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL, and Cadillac Escalade.

The Brembo kits feature the company's iconic red six-piston, fixed aluminum calipers loaded with brake pads that clamp onto to larger-than-stock, 42 percent larger, 410 x 32mm (16.1-inch x 1.3-inch) Duralife™ vented rotors. This package offers an 84 percent increase in brake pad area to increase system thermal capacity. The package includes all the necessary hardware and instructions for the do-it-yourself installation or can be installed at the dealer. The front brake system is available for any light-duty 2014+ Silverado/Sierra and light-duty 2015+ Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Yukon XL and the Cadillac Escalade with 20-inch - 22-inch original equipment or GM Accessory wheels.
Function and style, Brembo has taken full advantage of the inner-wheel real estate of the 20 and 22-inch wheels on GM trucks and SUVs (EXCEPT the SEU option wheel) to increase the stopping power and pedal feel. The upgrade will be evident visually as the red Brembo caliper serves as a stylized back drop for the customer's wheel choice.

“The Brembo Performance Brake Upgrade System allows customers the opportunity to upgrade their already owned or ready to be delivered Chevrolet, GMC truck, SUV or Cadillac Escalade with the ultimate in braking performance," Dan Sandberg, Brembo North America president and CEO said. "The all-aluminum, red two-piece Brembo caliper features the specific brand logo of Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac. The caliper wraps around a large, vented rotor that not only looks great and fills the wheel opening, they also contribute to reduced braking distances and better control when hauling loads or pulling a trailer. Together with GM, these packages have been validated for quality and performance, as well the ease of installation by the local dealer or for the do-it-yourself mechanic. These performance upgrade components can be purchased at the parts counter of local authorized GM dealerships or online."During GM testing, the Performance Brake Upgrade system provided a 31 percent reduction in pedal force and 12 percent reduction in pedal travel at max deceleration, providing improved pedal feel," he continued.

Brembo translates over 41 years of motorsport technology into every braking component. The racing environment is the perfect testing ground to prove longevity and pedal feel for road going vehicles. The brake package was on the Silverado 1500 crew cab truck that paced the Nextera Energy Resources 250 Camping World Truck race at Daytona in February.

The Brembo Performance Brake Upgrade System fits vehicles optioned with 20 or 22-inch wheels, EXCEPT the SEU option wheel. This product does not void the new vehicle limited warranty when installed by an authorized dealer.

Brembo Performance Brake Upgrade System part numbers:
· Chevrolet - 84263234
· GMC - 84263235
· Cadillac – 84263236

The Brembo Performance Brake Upgrade System packages are sold through Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac new car dealers and can be purchased online at Chevrolet.com/accessories, GMC.com/accessories and Cadillac.com/accessories.

Brembo was not an option for me as they didn't offer a matching rear kit. Here is an additional tidbit. When the warning indicator flashes telling me I'm approaching a vehicle too quickly the system by default primes the brakes. Since the upgrade when that automatic priming occurs it actually slightly applies the brakes so I get a little bit of automatic breaking. I like it but some may not.

So I went through the whole five hundred and some parts on the Chevrolet.com link, and did not see the brake set. Of course, gm did not add a search link, so, I had to scroll through the whole site to the end to find out they weren't there? Gleefully I missed it...

So this is the melt down so far, these are close, but, not exact pricing for brakes on my truck with 20" rims shipped;

Willwood front and rear = $4,300.00

Brembro front only = $2,400.00

Power Stop front and rear, pads and rotors only = $450.00

I know the last one is not in the same class as the other two, but, it is a starting point for those who might read this, and not have as much cash to play...

There also is not a requirement to do front and rear with Wilwood's. For those with or without 20's you can just do the fronts. Brembo only works with 20+ inch wheels.

The GM Brembo kit is a massive, quality upgrade.  I looked on ebay and can't find them anywhere close to $1600 (partial kits and used parts was all I could find), for that they'd be a steal and I'd definitely go that way.

The Eradispeed upgrade is probably the best bang for the buck.  It comes out to about $500 more per axle than simply replacing your rotors with new OEM.  The added size of the front 15" rotors (and directional cooling vanes) will provide a real improvement in performance (though nothing like the Brembo kit) for relatively little.   It's a good option to have.

There's two kits left on ebay for 1700 and there's a coupon for 100 off. I just picked up a kit for 1600 shipped with the coupon.

Do you have a link for them?

There is this company based out of Irwindale California called Rotora. They offer 8 piston front brakes for $4,295 and 4 piston rear brakes for $3,495.

Nice!  Any chance you could measure the piston diameters before you put them on?

they're about 1.25'' each. So I think that's 32mm.
