Do you realize that 2018 is not a new model year and that it is the 2019’s. He bought a 2018 and back in 2016 is when GM did some slight modifications to this gen trucks.

These trucks do have issues and hopefully GM does get their act together or else they will be in the same boat they were in the early 2000s with mediocre quality that made a lot of people that enjoyed their brand run away to other brands.

I had a 2016 Colorado before getting my Silverado and even that thing had all kinds of issues that made no sense at all.

Yeah I get what you're saying, they've been doing "slight modifications" every damn year w/ these trucks, more tweaks year to year than i can ever remember them doing. They even made 'em w/o the bumper steps on color matched trucks - had it on my '14. 2015 introduced the 8 speed w/ some more tweaks, you're talking about the last version of the previous gen 14-18 trucks, and yeah I get it they made some more significant "improvements" - but its still a pile of crap.

You're correct though I initially associated the '18 w/ the newest design, but either way my statement would be the same (except that the 2018 trucks look better than 2019) - I was mistaken thinking the 2018 was the actually "new" truck though - on the other hand, not convinced whatsoever that all the bugs were worked out in this design by the 2018 year - I honestly don't think GM gives a damn - sell em all out & address the issues on the 19+ trucks (and most likely introduce new ones....like NO WAY IN HELL will that stupid multi tailgate hold together, & why would I ever think otherwise? every single one of my 3 trucks had the "soft drop" feature break on the tailgate)

I appreciate that your experiences may support this but mine are the opposite.  I've owned a sample of most GM and Ford 1/2 tons from the mid 1960's to 2000.  Since my 2000 Silverado, I've only owned GM's.  My 2015 has been the most reliable, comfortable and economical truck I've owned so far.  In 2014 GM made a huge advancement in the power and efficiency of their trucks and I think this will receive favorable recognition in the history books!

You should play the lotto ASAP, b/c if that's truly the case you're one LUCKY SOB sir!!!!

In defense I did have an '07 Silverado 4x4 5.3 w/ the AFM first model year of that design w/ 4 spd auto & it was flawless, not 1 issue.

Nice, I feel the same about my 18 vs my old 14.  Pretty nice so far.   The floor shift has always been there for the WT unless opted otherwise.  Think of the good side its probably going to be a damn dependable truck other than the open Diff.

LOL this guy bashing GM still cannot figure out which year is what and what your post is even about. Kinda lost credibility there fa sho!

If you had 2x2014's loaded & a current 2015 loaded that you own outright & have experienced all the issues I have firsthand, on top of having a close friend who's gone through 3 now on his 4th every single one due to the dealer throwin in the towel on trying to fix em. Didn't cost him a dime though & hes now rocking a '17 Denali ultimate lol....funny thing is he's owned more GM trannies & converters than trucks!!!!! 3 of the 4 had either the tranny or TC replaced or BOTH!!!!

I'm not making this up- why would I? GO look for my thread w/ my truck sitting on a tow truck from having the damn starter fail!!! That's a joke on a brand new $60k truck, the starter on my beat to crap '01 Polaris quad finally went, more reliable than my truck!

I feel bad when anyone comes on this forum all proud of buying a new truck....just bought a pile of crap. I think my left front wheel bearing is going now getting a grinding feel/noise only when turning to the right.

Meh - good luck w/ the 2018 work vehicle maybe the 17-18's of this design are improved on over the 14-16s but I wouldn't bet on it, I hope GM has improved for the 19+ models but I hate how they look! Sorry to thread hi-jack, honestly just got my truck back from having warranty work done on the tranny & expected them to look into the noise/bearing - they didn't even check it. One thing after another.

My favorite thing about my 2015 though that trumps ALL the model years ahead of it? the 100k powertrain warranty - saves me tons already. There's a reason they don't offer that anymore standard......

I wish I could brag about my luck with the lotto like I do about my truck!!

My company got me a new work truck last week, a 2018 silverado.  Kinda strange since my last two company trucks were a 2015 and 2012 F-150 to be back in a work truck similar to my personal rig.  My company bids out to local dealerships (they buy dozens at a time) and we always get plain jane trucks.  Who ever put out the specs messed up and didn't mention a locker so my new truck does not have a G80 which sucks because I spend half my day driving off road but it is not the first time I had a company truck with an open rear end and I will get by (at least I got a nice Warren winch this time!).  The biggest difference I have found compared to my 2014 is how much better the transmission shifts!  My personal truck is the 5.3/6spd/3.42 gear and my WT is 5.3/6spd/3.08 gear but this WT shifts much more smoothly and more predictable.  Even though this is a base truck it did come with a 7 inch touch screen with the usb ports, bluetooth, apple and android car compatible.  The touch screen on this truck is 10x better than the 8 inch touch screen on my 14 in that it is more responsive and faster.  It also shows all the album art on the usb drive for my mp3's while my 14 shows about a quarter of the album art.  This truck also does not have any of the squeak and rattle problems that my 14 has been plagued with since I bought it new.  The 18 model also rides smoother but it came with plain shocks while my 14 has the stiffer rancho's on it.  Just another reason that I will never buy a first year release of a vehicle again!

A side note that I think is strange is that my 18 work truck does not have a key fob and the 4x4 shifter is on the floor!  Nothing wrong with it, just thought that all vehicles came with a key fob these days and most trucks have knobs instead of shifters for 4x4.  My last two ford base model trucks had key fobs and knob style 4x4 shifters.  I also had to remove the front air dam the next day, truck was nearly on the ground in the front due to the weight of the brush guard and winch combined with the ridiculously low air dam.

In the regular cab, you can still get manual windows even!

It is crazy with the amount of little updates they keep making from year to year with this last gen and will be interesting to see what they do with this new T1 generation once complaints come in from new 2019 owners. I had been itching to trade my Colorado in, that once I saw the 2019's I jumped on getting a 2018. Granted there are some nice improvements in some features in the 2019, I just think the truck is kind of ugly in the front end. I worry with all that aluminum, what kind of dings will those have and whatever other little issues that come up.

It probably would not have been bad for GM to wait out another year for a complete redesign and have added some of the new truck features in a 2019 that resembles to 2016-2018 body style.

If you go over to the Toyota forums, complaints on the Tundra and Tacoma are not any better TBH. While the new RAM looks luxurious inside, people are bitching about things with that too. It's a no-win situation with cars, trucks, etc.

Over the weekend my kids got in the back and when my son went to put on his seat belt, the plastic holder that the belt comes out of popped off. I had to put it back together, which is why are they using such cheap plastics in the interior is odd for trucks that are costing $45-50k. Next time I take this into the dealer for the oil change, I'll need them to look into that.

Honestly at the end of the day, vehicles are a sink of money. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with my 2018 and kind of wish I would have jumped to the LTZ considering I'll be keeping this for much longer than I did my Colorado. I guess that is what mods are for.

Nothing will ever be perfect.  I am pretty damn anal and I could (and do) pick everything apart.  My 14 was paid off in reality I would not have traded aside from it getting a complete frame replacement.  Wife, daughter, and I took a damn hard hit from a Dodge Journey.  Pretty sure he didn't hit his brakes for more than a split second we slowed to avoid a couch in the highway to 25ish mph..  Bent down my rear bumper and creased the frame at the designed crumple zone behind the rear axle. My trailer hitch went far enough in to take his engine block out. His whole front end done for and was buckled down.  We drove the truck to dinner from there and then the two hour trip back home.   Yeah the  first model '14 definitely had some quirks!  Junk......? it was not!  We had no more than one heck of a scare, not even a head ache.  she had 68k on it.

I did have an ecoboost once it was a 2012 FX4. Man that thing made a ton of tq!! Talk about some rattles and some crazy bucking / surging at random times.  Lol. I mean like I had a manual and was drivng to drive uphill while pushing the clutch in and out at the same time.  Of course the dealer could not duplicate it. :rolleyes  Have a real problem child like that once (and the Hemi before this ecoboost was not a whole lot better) and it changed my thought process on "problems".  Yea I could 'and do' complain about a shock this or a odd feeling shift that... Cheap factory tires.....  Lol. But it's not bucking and jerking while unable to accelerate....  I could have loved that ecoboost!

if you think every vehicle brand / make do not ALL  have their quirks,  I'm  sorry.   It is is a machine now turned into a PC. Why in the world would the two top competitors Ford / GM need to team up to make a 10 speed?  Because 'their stuffs' has problems like our stuffs man!  That is the only competition worth debating about IMO anyway.

One fact....the vehicle with higjest number still on the road today that have surpassed 300k miles...tahoe/suburban.  Look it up.  Hmmm sounds like junk to me.  Same drive train just driven/used differently.

Forums bread mostly negativity, it happens.  Glad I don't live my life that negative. That would suck.

Back in the the 6.2 for me. :) Glad to be here.
