Exactly right. So us K2 trucks have to fabricate it all.

Can you not just order the Yukon bezel? Test drove a Denali Yukon the other day with HUD. Does 2018 K2 Denali have HUD? Just order all the stuff for that truck, dash, switch, windshield etc.?

If only was that easy. [emoji23]

And...using a dremel for this precise cut is not my expertise. LOL. Good thing this was a practice run. emoji23.png

I plan on covering the surrounding area with lots of painters tape to avoid a similar experience.?

How are you attaching the switch to the trim piece?

Did you cut the hole the size of the hashed piece on your template?

I’ll be doing the same with protection. I asked Viktorrocks15 and he used epoxy based adhesive.

He did, but I believe he mentioned that his cluster did not have the HUD connection.

I am trying to source the HUD bezel (camaro part# 22758784).  There are none in the system in all of Canada.  Anyone know how easy it would come off the dash of a salvage camaro? Would it just pop off? or is there a backing piece that would be needed also? In other words...Is the bezel a single piece or two pieces?

Thanks

It slides towards you and up. It has 4 tabs on the sides. I actually notched those tabs so it’s pressure attached like factory.

So it’s just a single piece that should pop off without much effort? So you have any pics of your notches/cut?

(Thanks for the quick reply)

I don’t, but I’ll be doing Phil’s speaker grille with the Camaro trim piece just like mine and I’ll take picture this time. Wife gave me a day to do this project so between doing modifications and installation there was not much time for pictures or videos..[emoji2359]

I'm looking forward to the pics. I think I have everything I need except the camaro bezel.  One more question to make sure I have everything on hand before I start...Is there existing hardware in the dash to mount the HUD unit? Or is the a package from GM that can be ordered? If not, can you share the specs of the hardware (size/thread/length)?  Thanks.

    • Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.
    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
    • I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
