I actually lost my brakes and thank God i wasn’t doing 62. Brakes to the floor and still moving. The dealership said they were afraid to drive inside they were going to tow it. Sorry if you situation was different.

I had the same issue back in January, still had some brake, just not as good as it should be. Dealer replaced master cylinder and haven't had any trouble since.

That’s good to know. The only thing that scares me are the treads that it’s happened multiple times. Was all the same warning lights on and the engine light?  My brakes were definitely on the floor...I would not want to be driving 62 mph as the warning showed.

Leaving a gas station yesterday and my 2019 Silverado with 7500 miles had no brakes.  I could press as hard as I could and it would slow some but it had to roll to a stop.  Luckily I did not roll into the 4 lane highway.   No warning lights or anything.  Had OnStar run a diagnosis and they showed nothing.  Drove slowly to the dealership and they confirmed that the Master cylinder had gone bad.  Was told these are now electronic fly-by-wire systems and GM was having issues.  There are none available for replacement.  Was told it could be a month or longer before I get my truck back.

Have you heard anything since?  I was told by the dealership today 8/27/19 that I need a Master Cylinder to start out but there is none to be found. They said they placed it on back order and did not give me any time when I maybe able to pick up my vehicle. This is not right drove one day and it’s been in the shop 5 days already to get this news today.

I have not been in contact since I left my truck.  It has been 2 weeks today without my truck.  I am driving a loaner that is not quite what I purchased and I am making do.  It is frustrating that I cannot use the amenities I paid for but at least I have a 2019 to drive.  I am going to give them 2 more weeks before I get too vocal.    I was told it could be a month or longer.  At some point it reaches the lemon status.  Too bad, I ordered this truck and after a long time of reviewing and evaluating what I wanted.  Has taken the happiness away from the purchase.  GM should consider that.

This is my 6th warranty repair since May.  I have have now been without my truck for well more than 30 days since early May.  The other issues were multiple dash rattles that they found and fixed.  The others were a broken fuel filler that caused environmental alerts, a bed cover recall, and a trailer software recall.

All they did with mine is bleed the brakes (twice) and reprogram the computer, so I’m told. Hasn’t reoccurred yet...

I hate to hear that. GM will not talk to me after 2 calls the purchasing dealership doesn’t want to talk to me. The only help I’ve had is a local dealership. The bad thing is they gave me a loaner and I could put it in the back of the Silverado. I ended up with a Buick Encore real bummer. I hope they get you lined out soon.

I’m glad that’s all they had to do. They said my Master Cylinder was bad they had a General Manager from GM come to look so they say. I’m in a wait game right now in my little loaner Encore. The problem is there are no Master Cylinder anywhere and are on back order. Don’t know when I will see my vehicle besides he parking lot at the dealership.

I was not giving a smart response, if you read back you’ll see that I agree this is a serious issue and I’ve had it as well. What I am saying is that people come here to research buying new trucks and new owners come in looking as well and they see “I lost my brakes” they are freaked out. Yes, we have lost power assist, gotten multiple errors on the dash and probably soiled some peoples shorts but you can stop the truck and we haven’t “Lost the brakes” which would mean you cannot stop until you hit something or coasted to a stop. As I’ve said in prior posts I’m in no way downplaying this issue as it is a serious issue but if we “Lost the brakes” there would be a big recall, not a TSB for software update and possibly another part (I forgot forget what it was). You sir have a wonderful day!

I don't understand your comments.  Buyers should be aware of this issue.  If 5 or 10 people have reported it in this forum then how many do you think are having the issue and not reporting it here.  I am sure the number is much larger than you think.  You are splitting hairs for no reason. If I had been going 5 MPH faster I would have been into a 4 lane highway.  For all intents and purposes I "LOST MY BRAKES".  The vehicle would not stop as it should and placed me in a position where I could have killed others or been killed.  My brakes did not work and I had to coast to a stop.  I don't think you understand you cannot stop the vehicle in any predictable distance or time when this suddenly occurs.  I drove very slowly to the dealership and it would take me well over a thousand feet to roll to a stop with the brake pedal to floor and only driving 25 MPH when I initiated the slow to a stop procedure (it had become a procedure because my $65K truck had no brakes).  I believe there should be a recall on these trucks.  Why do you think my truck is sitting at the dealership parking lot and they will NOT let me have it back.  In my case there was no warning or errors before or after the event.   I have an Onstar report to prove that.

Ouch... an Encore!  They gave me a Nissan Rogue for a day then swapped me to a scaled down 2019 Silverado.  I am happy, but it doesn't have a bed cover and I really need that security with my work.  I would request a truck as soon as they get a demo available.  My dealership has been very good in Tennessee and this is not their issue it is a GM issue.  I appreciate the way  they have dealt with me considering I bought the truck in Virginia.  I will make do until I hear more in a couple of weeks.

I bought mine in WV and brought it back to VA. I thought my local dealership would be mad but they have been very helpful. The only problem is the Encore but they said it’s all they have. GM still has not contacted me back. Every time I call they say I need to talk to the Sr Advisor and no one is available. It has now been in the garage since Friday.

You better watch. I would call OnStar to get them to run a diagnostic for record. I hope the other 3 lights don’t come on that’s goes with this. Good luck.

The battery in the truck went dead and I had it boosted by the AMA. When it came back to life there was an engine failure light on, brake failure light on, parking and trailer break light on. Took it for a spin around the block and the brakes were like mush. Also had multiple other systems failure notices. Truck towed to dealer. I was informed that the master cylinder failed and that multiple other systems needed resetting. Dealer has had truck for 5 days and no end in sight. This is rather weird and frightening. What if it happens on the highway?
