This is sickening,

Hard times here can't afford a catch can... Layed off looking for work and my wife is having serious medical issues.... BUT I love my new truck... 2016 1500 5.3 LTZ I planned and dreamed for years. Now thinking this sludge is building up and damaging my engine makes me cringe! 50k for a truck and I (We) have to even think about this as a MUST HAVE is criminal.... I'd like to grab someone from GM by the nutz... If it can be proved this is happening to our engines why on earth has no one Sued? In my thinking this is a HUGE deal...

I'm sorry but this just FLAT SUCKS...

If you can't afford a catch can at this time. The only other alternative to cleaning your engine from all the negative effects of direct injection is to do or have a shop do a direct injection service. Or take your intake off yourself and manually clean your valves. But there will still be junk on your pistons

I think I've talked myself into ordering a catch can. I bought the truck new (2015 Sierra), currently sitting right at 40.5k miles. I'm not mechanically inclined, is there anything I should do prior to install? I'm sure there's plenty of junk built up over the last 40k. Should I initially check the can more frequently?

The install is super easy on these trucks, and we have several installation videos on our website. The first time you install the Catch Can, check it after 1K miles (especially in cold weather), then again at 2.5K miles. Once you have a little history, you'll get a better idea how often it needs to be emptied.

Thanks for the reply. Every thousand miles means I have at least 40 check can/empty can sessions I have missed haha. I think I can handle the install, I wasn't super clear, I was more or less wondering if I should have anything on the engine flushed or something of that nature before installing?
