Sucks bad.  If I had the time in my life, which I don't, to go play back and forth with the dealer to get this fixed, the truck would be in there every day at this point.  I have noticed the following.

 

start in the morning. let warm up a few minutes. gives time for all the electronics to be happy, but shouldn't have to. don't have to shift at all. just go to the camera screen option, blue screen.  point being don't think it has anything to do with shifting to or through reverse. doing so only reveals the issue at hand. leave it on the camera screen (blue with message) until some random time during my 30 minute morning work commute, it wakes up. then seems to function ok. park at work. go to lunch. random if going to blue screen. if blue screen, very quick less than 1 minute to wake up. leave work for day seems to work ok, but can randomly throw blue screen with very little wake up time.

 

All that said, seems to be worse in the morning when sitting overnight. possible booting issue after sitting overnight. Of course shouldn't be the case, but something in the boot process seems to hang and cause this. Rear view mirror camera screen is fully functional at all times.  So I at least know that one is working properly.

 

Again, if I had time... I need to get this into the dealer to check out from my recent back and forth with Chevrolet support. Just don't have time to futz with this not working and frustrating because it is a safety issue.  I had to back out in a bad spot the other night in the rain, messy weather at night, tons of activity, and blue screen.  No help from a perfectly good tool I should have had access to.

There is a tech bulletin on this behavior.  They call it still busy (booting up I guess).  The check for this is to wait 45 seconds to shift and rule out the issue of quickly shifting.  I call BS on this.  I can let mine boot up for several minutes, not even shift and reveal the blue screen.  The shift only reveals the underlying issue I believe.

GM's version of MS Blue Screen of Death.  We had the same thing, a service update fixed it.  Gotta love the forgotten service when paying for NEW!

Don't smile so wide. I've had my software reset on my 2019 Sierra SLT 4 times and after 25 to 400 miles it happens again.

To add insult to injury ... we shared Thanksgiving dinner with friends and family, two of whom have 2019 Silverados.

They had not spoken of the problem till I brought it up when they chimed in with the same blue screen experience.

 

Seems like NO ONE AT GM  has the slightness idea of how to fix this problem.

The manager at my dealership in Riverhead NY told me, hopefull at the start of the New Year they will find out something.

Needless to say, he tries to tell me I'm the only one he knows of that is having this problem.

I’m fighting this too. My truck has had the update, 3 modules and a new back up camera. They were supposed to have it back to me last week after next daying some parts in but we didn’t hear from them and I didn’t call.

I’ll let you know what the outcome is today when I call them.

This has been going on way too long. We as consumers who have paid good faith money for what should be a safe and dependable vehicle

have been defrauded by GM. They continue producing the same defective product.

Perhaps it's time to start a class action suit or at least bring in the DOT

Yoda2, me.... KevinO smile, not at all.  If you knew what I went through prior with my '17 Sierra.. ended up with a buy back and a lot of dealer animosity.  And I had the same damn issue(s) with this 2019 as with a 2017, only difference we knew where to go and not spend 3-4 months at the dealers repair shop.

I know what you mean. I had a 96 Tahoe that a dealer repaired using used parts. The transfer case blew apart and spewed it's contents on the roadway in a snow storm.

bottom line, he installed a used and warn E washer to lock a shaft in place.

Dang dealer told me to drive it back to him  ..... LOL.

That dealer went out of business less than a year later.

GM bought it back and 2 years later I got a 2001 Yukon XL and enjoyed the rusted out brake lines ... same problem everyone had and GM walked away laughing.

I paid for new stainless steel lines and had my local garage install them.

I guess I'm dumb ... buying another GM product but Ford is having the same sorts of problems and I didn't want a smaller engine with a turbo.

 

If only Genesis , Lexus or Acura produced a full size vehicle like the Silverado / Sierra / Yukon / Tahoe line up.

Products that hold up and dealer service that's worth something.

On my way to pick up my truck today. They claim to have fixed it. Said one of the mirror cameras was causing issues. They had worked from back to front replacing cameras and said this one finally fixed it. We’ll see if it lasts.

Let us know.  And which side if you can too.  I just called my dealer service manager to get the ball rolling again on this yesterday.  Waiting to hear back when he investigates how they want to tackle.  I might be able to point him in a direction if this holds true.  They first tried replacing my tailgate camera.  Now every now and again, I find the tailgate push button assembly popped out a bit and have to push it back in.  I guess a weakened tab from prying it out.  I mentioned it on my last visit and they couldn't reproduce the issue.  ???  Replace the dam thing!  I had three pictures and showed them when I dropped it off.

 

Another reason I don't want them to start taking the truck apart to replace this and that without having an idea what they are trying to fix here.  I'll end up with rattles and more inside when they start prying the dash apart to replace the inside I'm sure.

The entire passenger mirror was replaced and this has seemed to solve the issue. They put 3 different modules in it and all of them produced the same result.

They put the tailgate camera in and then the passenger one before things finally went back to working. The system seems a bit more sensitive now but all and all, it’s worked as expected thus far.

Update on mine.. 3 weeks now since last update, module repaired as well, no issue so far,  My problem. Was always at quick shift after start.  This appears to have fixed for the time being,, we will see.. only 3k on truck.
