I pulled my small camper for the first time today with 2019 Denali and saw multiple issues.  I have pulled the same camper with my Honda Pilot without issue!!!!   I have an aftermarket electric brake on the Honda.

On my Denali I saw these things:

-The Furrion rear camera has no signal

-Electric brakes to the trailer are not working.  Truck says they are not connected.

-When the truck was connected to the truck but totally turned off I saw the lights (LED) on the outside flickering every once in a while.  I unplugged the truck overnight so I didn’t have melted pile of goo in my driveway in the morning.

Could these all be related to the same issue?  I’m struggling with first time connection to the Denali vs. where there’s smoke (camera issue) there is fire.  Just don’t want it to be my camper.

Anybody else seeing anything besides the camera issue?

@2019DenaliRed Read back thru this thread.  Your Denali is very likely using the same new  Trailer Control module that is being used in 2019 and greater GM trucks.

Regarding "The Furrion rear camera has no signal"::::    if your camera is powered by the trailer running lights circuit - then you need to put one of these power adapters in-line just before the camera: ASA Power adapter to fix issues with GM's new smart trailering app/functions.   This fixes GM's use of PWM on the trailer running lights circuit.

Regarding "then the truck was connected to the truck but totally turned off I saw the lights (LED) on the outside flickering every once in a while":::    it is supposed to do this.  This is done in their new smart trailering functions to be able to detect the theft of the  trailer when the vehicle is off.

For More information see this tech article:  New Trailering App Trailer Connection and Lighting Diagnosis

Regardging "-Electric brakes to the trailer are not working.  Truck says they are not connected." -   dunno..

Appreciate it @duke3k  This is great info.

Once the ASA power adapter is installed for the camera issues what happens if you connect up a non-2019 GM truck?  Still work?

Yup- that's what I ordered!  Thank You.

If this adapter doesn't work, I think I'll put the trailer running light wires on a switched relay with power from the trailer battery.

This will be much simpler though.

Thanks again!

I installed the ASA filter from Amazon today and glad to say it's working great.  I did have to trim down the length of the solution as the limiting factor is how much wiring you can stuff into the cavity of the camera. At least in my situation I couldn't stuff the extra wires back into the RV, so it has to be gathered and put into that camera cavity.  So I cut down the harness that I bought on Amazon from ASA probably down to half, including shaving away some of the 'shrink wrap' around the circuit board that has the magic to filter out the bad stuff and make the camera work again.  I'm very happy with the outcome.  Reach out to me if you have questions and I will try to answer them.

Figured out my electric brake issue.  I believe after I added some anti-corrosion1 grease/lubricant it fixed things.

Tbone55, that "Haloview Power Booster and Filter" would be connected to the camera's power cable and the connection on the trailer where the camera is mounted.  Basically, it will go in-between the camera's power plug and trailer's camera mount power plug. You may need to secure/adhere the small booster on the external wall of your trailer.

On a side note, there have been other fixed at the main trailer plug on the vehicle and the trailer's 7-pin connector.  Overall, the problems lies with GM's usage of PWM (talked about earlier in the forum), which caused the camera to drop power. PWM is a good and more advance design for safety and reporting to the vehicle's computer(s); but, with these cheaper chinese-made cameras the PWM system wasn't designed for their compatibility. I believe future camera designs may take this into consideration as technology advances more. I make this comment since I'm an engineer for some government applications, but not for automotive. The concept can still scientifically apply.

Hope this helps.

Is there an adapter for the GMC?  Camera works perfectly when powered inside vehicle from adapter.  Trailer is pre-wired for Furrion but cameras will not pair.  I have the side monitors as well, same story. 2019 GMC Sierra 1500

does this apply to just the 1500s or to the 2500 and 3500s also?  I have a 19 2500 and ordered cameras for my trailer that will be here this week, if its going to be a problem I would rather get the fix on its way...  thanks anyone have this issue with a 2500?

Got my harness today from Amazon to use with my Furrion camera. Looks like there is a lot of excess on the harness. Like others have suggested, I will trim off about two inches on each side to ensure it all can fit in the cavity behind the camera on my rig. Fingers crossed!

My wireless Furrion camera has worked great on my last two camping trips with the above power filter on my 2019 GMC Sierra!

@*Tim* @ice_nyne Do you have the link to that power filter? I can find it on Amazon or Furrion’s page? I just switched from a 2021 Ford F-150 (camera worked great) to a 2021 GMC 2500 AT4 and my Furrion camera no longer works. Thanks!

Yes, I just bought a 2021 GMC Denali 1 ton with the Smart Trailering on it. We just bought a 5th wheel and put Furrion Cameras on it and the same thing happened. I called Furrion when I ran my generator and put a device  i use to check the trailer lights by connecting it to the 7 pin connector and what do you know all the cameras came on so I figured it can't be the cameras or the trailer. I came on line and asked the question and this site popped up! I was glad to find out the problem but, they told me that they have an adapter for 2020 GMC but are still working on 2021, so I'm out of luck for now unless someone knows any other company or way to connect.
