So I was checking the shocks for damaged and noticed this oily residue on the bottom bushing, is this normal ? The shaft has no oil and this is only on one shock. a48f7e21e4edbcdbf28b1ef7087222fd.jpg

Looks fine to me. Some companies don't put things in dry, otherwise they will make noise and it easier for install to not hurt the bushing.

Ok thank you all for this, yes they’re bilstein shocks , went with non adjustable for the front as my original shocks have 51k miles on them. These should last me up until I hit 100,000 miles on the truck

You are seeing assembly lube/grease. This is to aid the pin in spinning for installation alignment.

You will rotate the pin so the holes/flats will be aligned with your lower Arm bolts.

For anyone thinking about going bilstein 4600 over the stock black shocks, do it! I have a Zone 6.5 suspension lift and the front end takes bumps and road imperfections so much smoother than the stock shocks, keep in mind that my stock shocks had 51,000 miles on them.

Hmmm. Then I think mine are dead. I have 90k on my truck with original shocks and struts.

You’ll be happy with the bilsteins, I got them for $89 each on ebay

Shouldnt i get the 5100's instead? The fronts are a pain to do though.

You can get whatever you desire, however in my application I didn’t need the 5100s because I am not lifting my truck, the 4600 are the same as the 5100 minus the lifting abilities. I had a shop install them [emoji869]

Ah. I have the bottom strut lift block already. So i guess that means i can get the yellow 4600's?  Thanks for the insight..
