Lighted Tailgate Emblem

Has anyone here installed something like This:

Tailgate lighted emblem? if so, is there a light circuit that is easy to tap into in the tailgate? Seems like it would be a pain to wire but not familiar enough with it to pull the trigger on trying it.

Nearest circuits you would need for tapping is the passenger tail lamp harness that passes under the tailgate, under the bumper by the spare. However, you would need to drill your tailgate because I believe the current back emblem is just a sticker. So no current hole in your tailgate.

I was kinda thinking that, thanks. Not ready to drill a hole in a brand new truck yet...

I changed the tailgate emblem on my 2014 and that emblem had plastic rivets attached to the back of it, and it snapped into holes in the tailgate. I removed it with a drill template and an undersized bit.

No it didn’t. Lol. GM hasn’t used holes to line up emblems like Ford does. Just 3m adhesive for decades.

I'm telling you, it was in there with plastic rivets. There was no adhesive. This was on a 2014. If you read the instructions, it gives you a drill template and it breaks the rivets free.

You are referring to only the insert/center. OP and others are referring to the entire emblem. Everyone is right. There are rivets holding the insert to the emblem body/trim. No rivets in the tailgate.
