I've got a 97 Chevy K1500 with 4.3 engine with a weird starting problem. The only way it will start is if I bleed off pressure @ the test port on the gas line. It will start right up & keep running, if I shut it off & go to start it right away, it starts fine. When it sets for more than about 5 minutes, have to bleed the pressure off again. I've never run into anything like this before & was hoping somebody had some ideas.

Possible spider lines cracked in the intake, you could test pressure with gauge and watch the drop with key on,engine off or pull some plugs, soaked I imagine

sticking fuel pressure regulator you would need to hook up a pressure gauge and start it to see what the pressure is. then shut it off and wait and see it it bleeds off quickly. or when you try to restart see if it builds up proper pressure
