Does the newer trucks that have that option have a built in power inverter or how do they supply power to them. My thought is a power inverter but what are these inverters rated at on these 2019 pickups, 15-20 amps? Maybe someone with a 2019 equipped with this feature could elaborate?

I'm sure if I did some Googling I could find something out or maybe SHOPKEY has service information pertaining to this. Maybe if I get bored later tonight I can look it up and see.

I know when I drove semi truck prior to 2009 I had a 2,000 Watt power inverter which had 2 large positive and 2 large negative cables each that powered it. They had what they  called ANN or what they call very fast acting fuses that will blow with the slightest arc. They were about $20 each back in the early to mid 2000's.

There’s only 2 ways to get power.

1. Tap into our existing 110 volt outlet.

2. Just buy an inverter on amazon and wire it straight up to the battery. Make sure you add a fuse to the power wire, add the fuse near the battery.

Only number 2 makes really any sense

Not long ago I was able to add the oem 120v outlet in my center console with the inverter, I removed it from a dashboard that I bought to replace my plastic dash to the leather one. I also traced wiring from the inverter until + (red/yellow) wire ended in the right(passenger) fuse block and a purple wire behind bcm can’t recall the name of it. But power + and - wasn’t enough to have it working. Purple wire gave the signal to be one and off is some sort of the accessory power supply. So I’m 100% sure it’s going to be somewhat similar to this. I’ll try to get back at it and see what else is needed. Here’s the part #s

I will like to have it as oem as possible, I know our inverters aren’t great but so far has been able to charger my drill batteries and now with all imaginable tools are cordless works great, I’ll leave opt 2 as last resource.[emoji1303]

I agree.  I just bought a 500w inverter Im going to power off the battery and mount to the side of my bed up and out of the way.  Theyre small enough these days where you can mount them pretty stealth.

Forgive my absent knowledge on electrical but will this mean that outlet be always on? If so, wouldn’t that deteriorate battery faster?

Could plug a charger into it to recharge the battery.......

Yeah, you definitely want to at least have an on-off switch for the inverter if you have it hooked up directly to the battery.  They gobble power all the time when they are on.

If youre talking about an inverter then yes unless you get one with an on/off switch which mine has.

Just a heads for those interested in this. 400 watts @ 120 volts only yields 3.33 amps. I know 400 watts will charge cell phones and most laptops but may have issues powering some desktop-replacement-laptops and some 18 volt battery chargers. I don't recall at this point, but on my dad's 2015 Z71 and my brothers 2016 Ford they got mixed results on Milwaukee, Makita and Dewalt single batt chargers. Multiple bay chargers would not work at all, ours drew between 5 and 7 amps.
