Your arguments are classic "whataboutism"

I say its illegal, you say "What about speeding? What about texting?"
Well they are also illegal, so dont do them, but they have NOTHING to do with this discussion. Here is a site you should reference before making an argument https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ It will help you to not make logical mistakes which invalidate your argument.

There are a few thing we can choose to go by here.

  1. The LAW
  2. The MANUFACTURES numbers
  3. NHTSA guidelines for safety
  4. Somebody online telling you to disregard  all three of the above.

I dont know about most of you, but when it comes to something as paramount as my safety and the safety of others, I will abide by 1,2 and 3 before listening to anyone online. Especially anyone who has already suggested breaking the law multiple times.

Ah the whataboutism argument. Awesome. Your speeding doesn’t validate my stance, but does put MY life in jeopardy. Get it?

You mention the law many times. Please post one valid law that is being broken by towing, say 8k lbs in a truck rated for 7k. Just one. Please. Do it.

No where did I advocate breaking the law. I did advocate growing a spine, however.

So lets get this straight: if my truck is rated for 9k lbs (pulling numbers out of the air here) and I, with a federal CDL, pull 10k with it, I’m more of a danger than someone who just bought a duramax duallie and hooks up 15k lbs for their first tow ever? Because according to you, marketing numbers are the end all be all. You still didn’t answer my payload question above.

Stick to figuring out how to convert your truck to e85 to tow in the mountains and leave the actual towing to those with the licenses and experience. Please, MY safety depends on it.

The OP came here to ask if he's on the safe side with his set up.

A simple "yes" would have done the trick. And then you could shine with all your experience and give him towing tips.

That's what I expect from an experienced tow-er.

OP received his “yes” with several tips from members, including myself, on how to do it safely regardless of the load. Slow, cautious and steady, and making sure to stay at or below the speed limit. You must have missed all those posts, which could be easy do ever since Alec piped in with his chicken-little ideology.
