Going tire shopping.

I got a little cash to spend and these damn luggy ass M/Ts I got on my truck are driving me nuts. I’m over them. So much so that they only got about 10k miles on them, still look new and I want them gone. 

 

Looking to go to an A/T to drop some weight, gain a little mpg and lose some road noise. Looking into a more budget friendly tire. With my size (35x12.5x20) budget seems to be in the $300-350 range. 

 

Anybody got any suggestions or reviews?  Probably gonna go through my local 4wheel parts store as they’re the only ones that stock tires in my size. None of the other big name tire places have any in stock. Through 4WP it’s looking like Pro Comp AT Sports. don’t personally know anybody that’s ran them but gets good reviews from what I’ve found.  Dick Cepek Trail or Fun Country tires. I know nothing about them. Then there is the Falken Wild Peaks which everyone seems to rave about from what I can tell. 

 

Those appear to to be my options.

The WildPeaks are good but in very cold weather they turn into rolling cement. My go to are the DuraTracs. They have been perfect in the summer and the cold winter.

What do you consider very cold?  I live in Texas lol.

$350 for all 4 tires or per tire? For 350 for a set of 4 you would be getting pure garbage tires.

What do you consider very cold?  I live in Texas lol. 

I am in Alaska, originally Fort Worth. I say go with WildPeak if the price is in your range

I run Michelin LTX AT2 and would recommend.

I ended up going with the Pro Comp AT Sports. 4WP was running a special of $250 off for a set and the salesman threw in free road hazard for them. $1200 out the door. Pretty good deal. 

 

Hoping maybe I can sell these take offs I’m gonna have and make back a couple hundred bones.

Decided I’m gonna get new wheels to. Not crazy about the rims that came on my truck. They’re 20x9 Ballistic Morax 845s and they just don’t look good. They just look cheap 

 

Probably gonna go with a 20x12 something. I haven’t decided yet

You should also get some rv tire covers to protect your spare tires. They're getting freaking expensive these days. Better save them if you can.

Michelin Defender LTX is an excellent highway tire that will outlast nearly every other M+S tire for treadwear. They don’t have and aggressive looking sidewall but are all season.
