AFM delete

guys any help would be great,

i recently installed a AFM delete kit on my 2010 suburban with the 5.3 motor, 4x4.  after installing all it does is crank and wont start up. i am guessing maybe the camshaft position sensor might need replaced but have no clue why it would be doing this? it ran when i started the swap but had a collapsing lifter issue that was re accruing.

i put in a OBD II  plug in (range technology) active fuel management  device before trying to turn over, should i try to unplug that and try it again?

or do you mean something completely different?

Different.

You have to actually disable all the AFM/DoD features in the calibration. There are trouble codes and a master enable/disable switch that needs changing.

A custom tune is required for that.

Should still start even without AFM turned off. Usually the plug is just left out after AFM delete and you can drive it to get a tune.

Did you plug in the coils and is the fuel lines hooked up? Will be a gray plug going to each bank of coils.

I would think you would see fuel running if not but take a look. Are the injectors all unplugged?

Does anything happen or does it only crank?

Have you checked all the sensors to make sure they are plugged in and no wires were pulled out of connectors. Such as the cam position sensor.

You have 2 ground wires on the front passengers side cylinder head. Are they both attached?

Double check your CMP actuator connector.  There ought to be stored codes by now for this.  Did you also delete VVT or get a VVT, non AFM camshaft?

I did get a non AFM VVT  camshaft with the kit i bought. vehicle is running now found a disconnected ground wire.

now the issue i'm having is the truck is idling rough and throws codes for certain cylinders that are "de-activated" any advice on that?

do i need to reprogram the ECU?

You still must tune the computer when doing a AFM/DoD delete. The range disable OBD dongle will not do what you want.

Find a local shop that does tunes, or contact Texas Speed, Blackbear, or DiabLew.

Find a shop or get a programmer.

You can get a used programmer cheap or get with Blackbeard and do it remotely for $300
