I have a 2014 gmc Sierra and I have left and right turn signal indicator failure. All bulbs are fine and everything works great but I keep getting this message. They will start out blinking normally then a few seconds they flash really fast and this message is displayed but all bulbs are fine. So I hooked my scanner to it and the code that keeps coming up is HVAC controls U1509-00 LIN BUS 9- Malfunction. This has been going on for months and I cannot figure out what’s wrong. I checked all bulbs, fuses and wires. All is fine. Any ideas?

Are you the first owner of this truck? Are the tail lights factory tails? Did you install LED bulbs? Did you install LED tail lights?

Sounds like aftermarket tail lights.  I have this exact problem and even with the resistors provided, it still happens.

I am the original owner and bought it off the show room floor when it was new. Everything is factory. I have not changed or upgraded a single thing. I checked the trailer plug in and all is fine. Even checked all wiring above the spare tire and followed the wire harness to the fuse box’s. Everything looks as it should. All light bulbs work great but blinks fast after a few seconds and I get that message

The hyper flash is an indication that a bulb is out or a change in the current draw when turn signals are used.

The bulbs are dual filament. Turn on your park lights. Check that all 4 bulbs are illuminated. Then have someone step on the brakes. Do all 4 bulbs go bright?

If all 4 bulbs are functioning in both park lamp state and brake applied state, then something is causing an difference in the current draw that the BCM is sensing.

Also, check all 4 bulb sockets corrosion at the tail light location and underneath at the junction box. Corrosion can cause resistance in the line. Clean out any signs of it and apply some dielectric grease.

If that doesn’t work, might be a trip to the dealer.

same thing just happened about 3 weeks ago, went to napa. They don't even have the truck listed and couldn't help me. After I Left, problem corrected itself, yesterday...it starts again, go to check rear turn signal bulb, completely corroded, had to chip it out with a screwdriver piece by piece. Put new bulb in, same thing. I suspect socket is no good, even after cleaning it out with contact cleaner and trying to clean the socket with emery cloth,  still no good.

Just had this same turn signal failure warning occur on my 2018 Sierra with factory LED taillights.  The light actually worked in all functions but would register a warning after the fourth flash.  Deal went about trouble shooting and back to GMC for guidance because it all tested out and no codes in the control module.  3 hours later and un-spooling the wiring harness they found a corroded / chafed wire in the harness from the engine bay to the rear of the truck.

Having the same issue with my 2018 Sierra. Front left turn signal indicator failure. Replaced the bulb. Worked for a day , no issues. Now , same thing is happening again.

Scan to see if you get any code, that's the first step.

Maybe it's a bad bulb, replace again, if it keeps popping then there's a problem for sure.
