Passive locking heads up

Let me preface with the fact that, yes, I feel like an idiot. :banghead:

I had passive locking turned on in my 2019 SLT, and really liked just being able to walk away and have the truck lock itself and chirp the horn. That was until I locked my keys in the thing yesterday. I figured there would be some sort of lockout protection and the truck wouldn't lock with a fob detected inside the truck. Luckily it happened in the driveway and I just ran in the house and got my spare fob to unlock it. Needless to say, passive locking is now turned off.

Just a heads up for everyone else.

I leave my keys in the truck all the time.  It never locks itself.  I did once throw them through an open window after the trucked locked itself.  It would not unlock if I pushed the button on the handle.

Interesting, mine were laying on the console lid when it locked. The truck didn't do the three quick horn chirps like it usually does, but I didn't think much of it, since usually I have the engine running when it does that. I'm guessing for whatever reason it didn't detect the fob was inside the truck.

Not the way mine works with keys in the car on passive auto lock, instead of a beep I get a rapid triple beep and 3 doors lock, but the driver's door remains unlocked, alarm is active so goes crazy when I open the door and stops when I kit the acc/start button. Of course after the Nav install, I'm running on the old 5.09 ver. of software....everything works perfect and that's why I don't upgrade.....new versions will repair one problem and create two different ones in its place........no more stinkin' "Climate Off" message either.

Engine was off.

Might be the best reason to have OnStar, I have locked myself out more than once but can unlock with my phone or even Alexa if I am home.

Yeah, stuff like this is why I never turned passive lock on. That, and if I don't want my truck locked, I like being able to walk away and leave it unlocked.

With the lock buttons on all 4 doors (2019s FTW!), I never forget to lock the truck. It's so convenient to just pop that little chrome button on any door handle when I close the door. ??
