Cargo Lights don't come on when using Key Fob?

Greetings!

Does anyone know if/or where there is a setting to make the bed cargo lights come on when lowering the tailgate using only the key fob? The other night I used the key fob to lower the tailgate to load some groceries and they didn't come on. I've hunted through the Owner's Manual and the Infotainment Center settings with no luck finding anything. ???

PGamboa had a way to do this with a diode on the 14-18's. Not sure if he has the method for the T1's yet.

Yes, there is a button near the dial for the light for the "bed lighting", click it once to have them come on when opening the tailgate.

when the vehicle is running that when to click it. i do not believe it does anything when the vehicle is off.

My 20 Sierra SLT has the rear bed lights come on when unlocking with the fob. Do your other lights come on when you unlock? Just not the bed lights? There is a setting for the unlock or entry lights to come on when using the fob to unlock the doors.

To turn on bed cargo lights when tailgate is lowered only by the key fob? I didn't know 14-18's have power up and down tailgates, I'll see if I can find it. Thanks !

Am shocked (shouldn't be) that this functionality is not by default.  Or there is not a switch in the bed for the lights to toggle on and off.  Lights are pretty useless most of the time because they aren't on.  I'll watch this and see if anyone has a good mod for this.

Here's how my '19 works.

With vehicle on or off.....Double click on the keyfob, perimeter lights go on, bed drops and interior bed lights go on. Bed lights in spoiler remain off.

With vehicle on or off.......Click on the bed light button in the cab, truck lights up like a Christmas tree.....perimeter lights on, interior bed lights on, bed lights in spoiler go on and tailgate mounted LED light on right side of push button goes on (and remains on after tailgate drops, lighting floor below).

Thanks Thomcat, I don't think I've tried this combo, I'll give it a try!

I have found that that way only works when it is dark out. In the daylight the bed lights wont come on unless you turn the cargo light switch on in the cab. Its frustrating and I wish it worked in both night and daylight as I have a tonneau cover.

Thanks 19Sierra I completely forgot about the light sensor on the dash. I covered it up and then lowered the tailgate with the fob and then unlocked the cab and the cargo bed lights came on!!! WOOHOOO!!!!  I knew there had to be a way to do it!

Also, I too have a tonneau cover, but mine is a Roll N Lock retractable one and I can roll it back really easy should I need to see better in the daylight.

Doesn't help with the FOB question, but both task lighting and cargo lighting have several modes to select from:

Exterior Cargo Lamps
The cargo lamps provide more light in the cargo area or on the sides of the vehicle, if needed.

The lamps inside the pickup box, in the tailgate handle, for the hitch, and/or the cargo mirror lamps also turn on, if equipped.

If the vehicle is in P (Park), R (Reverse), or N (Neutral) the Cargo Lamp Switch causes the lights to cycle through the following
states for each button press:

- Initial Press:
- CHMSL/Cargo Bed Lights - On

- Cargo Mirror Lights - On
- Cargo Switch Indicator (ifequipped) - On

- Next Press: (if with in 5 seconds of the previous button press):
- CHMSL/Cargo Bed Lights - On
- Cargo Mirror Lights - Off
- Cargo Switch Indicator (if equipped) - On

- Next Press:
- CHMSL/Cargo Bed Lights - Off
- Cargo Mirror Lights - Off
- Cargo Switch Indicator (if equipped) - Off

Task Lighting   (is also user selectable:

If equipped, task lighting projects light from the outside mirrors away from the vehicle.

While the vehicle is parked, press (bottom of light knob)  to select one of the following options:

. Left and Right Task Lights Illuminated
. Left Task Light Illuminated
. Right Task Light Illuminated
. Left and Right Task Lights Off

If the vehicle leaves a parked position, the lights will immediately turn off.

If the vehicle is off, the lights will stay on for approximately 10 minutes.

If any Task lights are on, if the button has not been pressed after approximately 5 seconds, pressing it again will turn off all Task Lights.

(press bottom of switch a second time before 5 seconds and the selected mode will change to the next one in the list;

press it more than  5 seconds after previous press and if 'on' they should will  turn 'off')

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.

    • I just purchased a 2004 Tahoe with 148,******. I used to have a 2006 Suburban that had the push button Auto 4X, 2Hi, 4Hi and 4Lo. When checking out this truck I noticed it had push button but didn’t focus on it. After the purchase when driving home, this is when I noticed it was different and after a little research found out it has the AWD stabilitrak system. I don’t live in an area that requires AWD. I bought the truck to start a new adventure in life with off roading, now that the kids are all grown up. I purchased the truck knowing it didn’t have the G80 rearend but plan on re-gearing to drive on 33s or 35s and upgrade with a rear locker and still be able to tow when needed. Blah Blah Blah Anyway I know am thinking about converting the stabilitrak  to Z71. I know I will have to replace the transfer case. So now the information gathering stage is happening to see if it is worth it. Is the front AWD stabilitrak differential different when compared to a non-AWD front diff? Will I need a completely different front differential or can it be converted? What else should I be considering? I did see something in a video for GMT900 platform with removing the ABS fuse that disables the stabilitrak and turns the truck into a 2 wheel drive. Would that work in the GMT800 platform?
