Goodyear Trailrunner Tires Sidewall Issue

Guys this is a GM site we are here because we like the trucks, tires are like oil there are as many who like one brand over another for lots of reasons.  I'll run Goodyear's as long as the store manager stays the same, he and I understand each other and get along well, if I go in and need tires he will let me know the best time to buy tires for best price.  Tire stores are just like dealers they are only as good as the employees working there.  Just my $0.02 worth!!!  :jester:

That’s great that you’ve got a good relationship with your local Goodyear tire store, doesn’t change the fact that Goodyear oem tires are junk!

Michelin don't have that because they cut it out of a sheet instead GoodYear cuts off a roll then turn it onto itself. 

 

Thank you. I am having the same issue and was wondering if the tires were defective. I only have 1000 miles on the truck. I did not know that about Goodyear. Thank you. So in your opinion it’s not a big deal right? That is just how they are made? I was sort of freaking out.

I wouldn't worry about it, you can also stop by a reputable tire shop and have it checked out.  I used to work for Americas tire and there were a few times that people came in with the same "issue", some are worse then others.

On my 2016 HD I ran Cooper AT3s. They did well in mud and OK in snow and good in rain. I only had them for 25K so cant tell you how they are long term. My feeling is if you can get 35K out of a tire on these heavy trucks, you doing good. I did have to rotate the Coopers every 6 K as they tended to cup on the outside of the front tire then it would get noisy. Just rotated to rear and all was good. I will look to replace the factory Goodyear's once they stop performing as expected. The Coopers are heavy but I did go up to an 11" wide tire.

Bought a brand new 2022 3500 HD with Goodyear Wrangler trailrunner AT's and all 4 tires(1 tire had 2 bulges right next to each other) had a bulge(s) in them with less than 600 miles on the truck. Brought it back to the chevy dealer and now they're replacing all 4 tires. I feel like Goodyear needs to recall these tires as it's a known issue and huge liability on their part.

Tp revive this thread from the dead, I just noticed this on my TrailRunners on my 2024 3500 with about 2,500 miles. We're on a camping trip, so I'll try to stop by a tire shop to see what they say, but it's a little concerning towing with it...

I took it into Discount Tire and they said everything looked fine. The guy mentioned the belting on some of these higher load-rated tires can be more prominent, but nothing was concerning.

big fan of BF Goodrich KO2 and had a few sets that got ridiculous amont of miles,  and  Michelin standard tires were great for rain and dry, was actually surprised

 

have had alot of problems with Goodyear in the past, mine still on the truck but as soon as they wear out buh bye.....not running in the snow currently

 

will never buy a Nitto tire....heard nothing but good on Wildpeaks and good bargain

While I know some of these look bad, they are not an issue.  It's just where the belts come together.  If you inspect most truck tires they all have bumps in similar area but they generally have a tire design that masks the area better than Goodyear.  I have seen numerous Michelin tires with same bumps in sidewall.  I wouldn't be concerned with it.

ive had those bumps on tires b4, didnt bother me.....figured it was part of manufacturing.....especially since i seen it more than a few times
