HID bulb upgrade

I have a 2016 base Sierra with HID headlights.

It uses D5S bulbs (25w). Can the D5s bulb be replaced with a 35w D3S Bulb?

I should add, I have read there are some problems with aftermarket suppliers of 35W bulbs.

Sylvania, Philips make a D3s 35w bulb. The Philips D3s is $62 each online.

Walmart online sells a pair of D3s, 6000K, 35w for $30, the brand is not displayed. If they are worth a hill of beans, I do not know.

The D3s from Philips, Sylvania and Walmart bulbs look like they have the same ballast as the D5s.

Base is different. You need D5S not D3S

Thanks for the info. I have spent some time looking to see if a D3s would work.

Be careful when ordering, many aftermarket D5S bulbs will not work with the auto light feature in your truck, you will have to manually use your switch. Even high quality units like Morimoto.
