Quick question about wheels...

Looking to switch from these 22's to similar-looking 20's.

Also...trying to stay reasonably priced.

Are Vision wheels any good?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Something to keep in mind.  Different wheels have different load ratings.  If you haul or tow please make sure you get wheels that will support your load properly.

Thanks. Being somewhat of a newbie, I hadn't thought of that.

We tow a 20' travel trailer, infrequently, so most wheels will probably be fine, but I will definitely bear that in mind while shopping.

While browsing, I see that the existing OEM (19301161) wheels would cost about $500 each...reconditioned!

I'm less into looks, and more into ride quality...aka comfort.

My last truck was an '07 F-150 with 18's, and it was tons more comfortable than these P285/45/R22's.

More sidewall to absorb chatter and potholes makes sense to me, although I understand that may not be everyone's opinion!

I felt no difference in ride quality going from 20's to 22's.

I have a set of 17” to run in the winter and the 20” that came on the truck stock. I’m quite confident that the 17” gives a more compliant ride over small road imperfections (think cracks in pavement).  Another benefit of the smaller wheel is that you really don’t have to worry at all about curbing the rim because the smaller wheels have enough tire sidewall that the tire takes the brunt of any contact.

Good point.

I do admit small wheels do not fill the wheel well, aesthetically, thus my leaning towards the 20's.

Kind of like a compromise...

Depending upon tire width and profile  you'll likely need a dealer flash to maintain speedometer/odometer accuracy. Dealer had to reflash mine going from the smaller transport wheels to the optional 22"s.

Another good point, thanks!

The 22's came with the truck when new, as a Denali option.

With that said, it's my understanding that if I keep the same diameter (smaller wheel, taller tire) the speedo should be fine.

I’m in the process of this very mod. I HATE THE 22 ride. This thing should ride better than my 2013, but with rubber bands between the rim and the road it’s like my wife’s corvette.
‘I’m working on getting either 18s or 20s and a tire somewhere in the 33-34” diameter that’s more sport/highway than mudders. I don’t expect it to ride like my Towncar, but damn when my 13 SLE rode nicer than a “manga-ride” Denali with concrete seats somethings not right.

A tool to use for the tire size and speedo difference I like Tire Size Calculator and use the tire size comparison option. Shows a visual as well as the numbers.

That's a really cool tool, thanks for linking it!

It compares two specific tire sizes, and even offers a variety of alternate sizes.

This may not make any difference for some but if you have a Denali and have added any items with weight to the bed or aftermarket wise something to consider is having a trim level relearn for the Magneride shocks. I have had 22s since purchase and felt the ride get slightly more harsh ( no they are not bad magnerides just yet) but I added a cover for the bed and some other aftermarket accessories..... After reading about this trim level relearn process I decided to see if it could affect the ride and all I can say is the ride for me has greatly improved. Was it out of caliber from the factory or due to weight changes from original settings I don't know but it did make a nice difference in how harsh it hits pot holes and blemishes on the road... Just FYI if it helps anyone.... Cost about $50 to have the trim level relearn done at dealer.. Who knows maybe you can ask them to make the shocks perform at a slightly more soft setting but I did not ask about that.
