FOKKERDR1 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 I have 17 " tires on my 2019 New verson GMC SIERRA, I WANT TO GO TO 20" or 22" ..chrome GMC wheels. From changing to this size what happens to recalabrate the speedo so it is accurate. I know the caliper has a cast tab that interferes with earlier wheels unless i use a 10 mm spacer, then i could use them, which i am not found of, or grind that tab off of caliper.. has anyone done this, is this safe or would i ruin the calper.. Last question,,,, what size bolt patten is my truck and lug nut thread, do 17,18,19,20 have the same bolt pattern? THANKS..
CamGTP Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 All the GM OEM wheels have the same bolt pattern, no worry there. Most just live with the speedo being slightly off or maybe way off depending on how big of a tire you went too. Going from a 30in to a 31in tire won't change much of anything but if you went from a 30in to a 34in tire, then it's going to be way off. If possible, try to pick a tire size that is roughly 3-5% different in overall size and the speedo won't be that far off. Here is a rough guess if I'm picking the correct size you have. The 17's with 265/70/17 are 31.6in, a set of 20's with 275/55/20 are 31.9in, so it won't change at all. If the 20's came with 275/60/20's, they are 33in tires and would make the speedo 2-3mph faster.
scotman623 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Or you can just buy a speedo healer and correct it for any size tire...

Using a 10mm spacer makes the wheel lug centric instead of hub centric. Lug centric is using the lugs to center the wheel instead of the hub. GM trucks don't like being lug centric and are prone to vibration. A 3mm spacer is the thickest you can run to remain hub centric. A 3mm will clear the caliper on some '14-'18 wheels but not all. The hub is around 8mm thick so with the taper on the wheel and on the hub, 3mm would be max on a spacer. There are no 3mm 78.1 6X139.7 spacers readily available that I know of. One company custom makes them for $105 a pair. Hub centric bore is 78.1 and the bolt pattern is 6X139.7. I'd get the correct wheel that clears the caliper without spacers. Check the OE Creations wheels from WheelPros.com. Search year make and model then wheel type (OE Creations under brand). They have the new style 2019 GM wheels. I purchased a set of the PR196 (2019 GM style). I can attest these wheels are top quality with a beautiful flawless finish. Fit is perfect and they required little weight and balanced out perfect. You'll be satisfied with these wheels and they are as nice of any wheels in quality you will find. A friend purchased a set of the PR197 which is also a nice looking wheel. Here's my PR196's in 22" using OEM center caps and my friends PR197 wheel. I've gotten many compliments on them. Keep us posted.
hotrodz37 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 @mafd2 I am going to get a set of the OE creations at your recommendation. On your buddy’s wheels, do you know where he got the black Chevy center cap that fits? I am going to get the pr198 and would love to have the gmc center cap. Thanks in advance! THANKS EVERYONE ON THE RESPONCE OF MY QUSTION ON MY TRUCK, YOU GUYS ARE GREAT,,,,! Factory Reproductions are good wheels. I've had 2 sets (pics below) with no problems. When I was looking at wheels for the '19 FR didn't have any wheels available for the '19. I found OE Creations and couldn't be happier. Whichever wheel you decide on, be sure it's a '19 specific wheel without spacers. This will save you issues and headaches.
