Anyone go from Leveled to Stock (opposite of Stock to Leveled)?

and what were your impressions?

I bought my truck and leveled it like 6 hours after buying it.  I don't remember what it rode like stock, since it has been 2+ years.  Always had leveled trucks/SUVs, so I am used to the ride/way they handle.  After driving my dad's new stock F150, it kind of made me want that stock ride.  I don't have any reason to have a leveled truck, other than the fact that I like the look.

Thinking of dropping it back down to stock, but I am wondering if anyone else did the same thing and how they liked the ride difference?

I know it is the same as coming from stock to leveled, as far as difference goes, but the actual reaction of going from leveled rougher ride to stock, is a little different than going from plush ride to rougher/stern ride.. if that makes sense?

My other dilemma, I am going to have to go and trade tires somewhere.  Have 275/65/20s right now, which will be too big for stock (I think).  Going to go trade for some 275/60/20 Wrangler SRA pulloffs or something similar.

Interesting idea.  I believe your stock size was 275/55/20 (or equivalent if non-original wheels) which will be posted inside your driver's door.  I think your truck looks really good with its current setup, but if you can be happy with a factory look, I am sure you'll be happy with the improved ride and fuel economy.   If you are going to spend the time and money to make the change, I'd spend a little more and buy decent highway tires.  Get a new set of Michelins along with an alignment and you'll be driving a Sedan DeVille!

That is my reasoning behind it.  I drive my truck a lot more now/longer distances.  I want it to ride like a dream.  Only reason I mentioned 275/60 is for more sidewall, but more sidewall doesn't always equal better ride.  I will check the Michelins out.  Thanks for the input!

I also sold the Amp steps off of it, because I thought I was trading the truck in.  Then I got lowballed twice and both cars I was looking at were overpriced.  Now I have a leveled truck with big tires, and no steps.  4 month pregnant wife isn't happy, lol.  Instead of adding steps again, I am wanting to explore going back down to stock, since I think I will like the ride/handling better.  I need to find a stock Silverado to drive I guess, and base my thoughts off that.  Just don't have time to do that right now.

Taking the level out is going to drop it at most 2 inches, not sure if that will help with getting in easier.

You may need running boards. Look on local CL and facebook marketplace. Usually there are a lot of oem ones for sale.

Tires make a big difference, also shocks.. if yours are worn out.

Plan on dropping the leveling kit out and going back down to stock size tires.  Should drop it 4-5", I hope.

Congratulations on the family news!   Ozer is correct about the need for steps.  I have a stock '15 SLE on 17's and my son has a '14 High Country on 20's in factory condition.  My son has a young family.  (This makes me and my wife "not young".)  You will more than likely need running boards to keep family peace!

you won't see that much drop. Maybe if you measure at the front bumper you'd be close to 4". But where your wife gets in the door is between the tires, that will only drop 2-3" tops.

I personally like the rubber to wheel ratio on the OEM 18"s. You can find a good deal on some take-offs, or trade your wheels straight up for someone looking to go bigger. Going back to stock size P rated tires will surely be a noticeable improvement.

my 3 and a half year old son and almost 5 year old daughter can climb into my truck without any step. In fact, just last night I got yelled at for trying to help them! Its going to come down to how tall your wife is and if she deems the steps worth having.

No input on the stock vs leveled. But whatever you do, dont buy wrangler SRA's. Theres a whole thread about how much they suck. I have them and hate them as well.

My 2015 truck is a bit lower than stock, 2/4 drop and I still have Go Rhino tubular bars and can't imagine getting in and out without them. I'm 6"1". How tall is your pregnant wife? :) And yes I'm old but...…..still......

I agree that young children and young adults won't have a problem.  However, if Op's wife is bothered with a leveled truck at 4 months, she will likely be equally upset at stock height in a month or two.  I started adding steps to my trucks when my parents and in-laws started to struggle getting into my trucks.  Now it's me! ?

    • I was the GM of a Lincoln Mercury dealership back in the 80's. The service lot was always full with "broken" ones. Plenty of transmissions, power windows and a/c repairs. The only one I'd consider owning would be the Marauder at this point and it certainly wouldn't be a daily driver.  My 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is my "Lincoln Town Car" in my retirement. I want all the "stuff". Big infotainment screens, one touch power windows, Supercruise (I won't buy another vehicle without it), hands free pretty much everything. I'm going to swap my current truck for a 2027 Yukon Denali Ultimate so I can have the air suspension and surround vision recording along with all the other "stuff".
    • Yep mine is on backorder also.
    • The Denali Ultimate's grille is tinted, but the "regular' Denali has a bright chrome grille like the current models.
    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
