Yep, I knew this day would come eventually. The EPA is gonna do all they can to stop modifications of vehicles. It will make it that much easier to kill the ICE and push us towards EV.

yes and all EV's will be under lock down, so no hacking the autonimous driver, and you cant go outside the designated GPS boundaries too

This only has to do with messing with emissions and being able to turn your street truck into a race truck or off road truck. This has already been happening for about a year. One company got a massive fine so they took out emissions tuning from their tuners but still sell them because the rest of the tuning didnt have anything to do with emissions. The biggest crack down so far was for diesel truck.

This has been going on since the early 1970's. Comes in waves ever few decades. Whoever has the most lobby money wins.

We all know if you squeeze 10 more hp out of your truck, 2000 hectares of rainforest die. 

 

Kind of like adding DEF fluid to diesels to "lower emissions". Since DEF systems are so unreliable and your trucks are down on average 1 month per year, there are now more 10% more trucks on the road, and people are rebuilding their old ones more often as they don't go down once a month for emission problems. NOX levels are identical to a modern non-def truck. Now we get smaller 13L engines under more boost that struggle to move the weight and end up burning more fuel than a 15L engine and need to be rebuilt sooner. DEF fluid also comes in 10L plastic jugs so there are about 100,000 of those hitting the landfills everyday. The used market for any truck after 2012 has been crushed because no one wants them. So in all the environment is worse off than before, owner operators are under more financial pressure. But guess who benefits? The dealerships/repair shops, the fuel companies, and the government. AKA big industry, they get the gravy, we get to lick the bones.

I know a guy that does service for a Nationwide rental company. He works on jobsite lifts (Lull, JLG, Cat)mostly but will fix anything. He tells me sometime these new lifts go into limp mode and they need to Regen . Sometimes it don't work and he has to hook up his laptop to it to force another Regen. When he does that the machine will sit there and run at 1500-2000 rpm for over an hour. Sometimes longer to get it out of limp mode. What a waste of fuel, down time, hard on the engine. Thanks Obama ?.
