My dealer submitted my order on a Friday GMC accepted it about four days later 01/16/20 the truck was built Tuesday 02/25/20 . 2020 3500 HD CC. DRW Duramax.

Damnnnn, I should’ve placed my order through your dealer!

Do dealers know when they get allocations to order? Or does GM tell them?

Not sure if all dealers are the same but mine checks every Thursday GM lets them know how many allocations they have and for what models SUV' S  truck's Etc.  then they build them and submit the order Thur. or Fri.

Update

Ordered 1/3
Code 3000 3/3
Today I checked again thinking I would see the same thing but nope

I have a target production week of 4/20
6 weeks before it gets built WTF
Called the dealer and talked to them about it they said it has happened before where the production week is 6 weeks out and 2 weeks later the truck is sitting there
This was with a 1500 but nice to know it might be sooner

2020 Denali DRW L5P long bed.

Here is some info that all of you may not know about the ordering process:

Dec 18 -- Prelim order put in as a "stock order" (order type TRE), event 1100. This means that GM can now see this dealer wants this truck to put on their lot (TRE) and that they do not have an allocation yet for this order. At this point, there is absolutely no guarantee that I will get a 2020, and GM does not know that it is a "sold order" for a customer (me). GM now puts this order on the back burner and focuses on the "sold orders" (order type SRE) to decide how many allocations they will offer this dealer, sending them allocations for SRE's. GM wants to make sure all their customers get their orders in and go to event 2000 before the dealer stock orders are accepted in and go to 2000 but dealers may think differently or they may not know how this part of ordering works.

I saw TRE right away, told the salesman to change it to a SRE order, he said he would get the sales mgr to do that when the mgr got back to the dealership & I left.

Checked back in a week, asked the salesman if it got changed & he said it did.

My mistake was not getting a printout of my order status at that time because I find out later (Feb 26th) that it was not changed to SRE.

Feb 13 -- Salesman texted to say they got allocations and could enter orders on Feb 20th.

Feb 20 -- Salesman texted me that the order was entered and event went to 2000. This, now, is the first time that I can actually be assured of  getting a 2020 (aka -- now I actually have an order in).

Feb 26 -- Online chat showed my order at event 3000 and TPW is Mar 23rd. TPW is "target production week" which means the plan is that my truck will roll off the line, completed that week, somewhere between Mar 23 and Mar 27th (or 28th if they work Saturdays).

Feb 26 -- Stopped in at the dealership to confirm everything. Got an order printout and noticed the Order Type was still TRE!

At this point, there are not enough special characters on my keyboard!

Are these guys that stupid, after being told 3 times to put the order to type SRE, that it didn't get done?

At this point, it is immaterial because my order did actually progress to code 2000 and then 3000 and I have a TPW.

Just read at GM Authority, in an article that GM is building a new L5P parts plant, that mandatory overtime has been implemented at the Flint Plant.

I checked today and my truck now has a TPW of 4/20.  I guess that's good.  At least it is progressing through the system.  I also read that GM is implementing mandatory OT at the Flint Plant.  Maybe it will get built sooner?  I can hope anyway....

Sweet! I feel like getting that TPW date at least gives you a rough timeline for the remainder of the steps. It’s the stuff UP until you get a TPW that is all over the board.

what a friggen nightmare.....remind me to never order a vehicle, lol

you should be able to just go to a dealer (any) and order a vehicle...like politics they make so dang confusing and so many people involved it can get screwed up pretty easily

Here is my order history so far.  I just spoke to my dealer and there are no changes in the system yet but it should have been built this week so hopefully a VIN will be posted by Monday.

So if I'm seeing this correctly. If gm hasnt picked up the order by 3/5 then it is too late for a 2020 and will be pushed to fall and be a 2021?

I ordered my 2500 AT4 Duramax December 17th, 2019.

Just got word that my Estimated build date it March 23rd, 2020.

Been a long wait.
