Transmission questions 2014.

Aloha,

So my transmission finally took a dump and trying to get some advice. I have a lift kit on my truck and want to find out, should I rebuild it up or get a new one? Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. My truck is a 2014 Silverado 1500 4wd with 5.3L.

If you are going to add a bunch of power then making it stronger isn't a bad idea. If the power level is staying stock, then just rebuild it or buy a new reman unit to replace it.

A good transmission tune does wonders for drive ability and could help prolong the life of the transmission.

Custom tuning is the only way to go if you ask me. So finding someone that does tuning or a shop would be the best choice. Any of the handheld tuners will be a waste of money. This needs someone with HP Tuners or EFI Live to properly calibrate the PCM and TCM.

circle D also offers it rebuilt for various power, 600hp- 1000hp. $3000-4000 for the Circle D it way better than GM's reman stuff..

rebuilding these trans are actually easier than the older 4L60's. the newer 6l80's look to have fewer parts and much easier to assemble, you could do it at home within 2 days after you yanked it out and cleaned it the week previously..

get all the upgrades from Sonnax, specially line booster kit,

If its affordable maybe install a new TECHM while there. but not neccesarry
