I would question the accuracy but not claim "BS".  We are looking at patterns/trends.  Fatalities are just as likely to be under reported.  There are many people suffering extreme hardships as a result of this pandemic and we should all do our part to minimize the impact.

I would agree, sort of.  My guess is that there are plenty of people who died without being tested that are missed in the numbers while there are also those like the one mentioned in the article.  In the end, this virus is killing people and needs to be studied and dealt with.  The people who are dead don't care how they are classified, nor do their families in the end.  I would like some truth from the media and government though and would rather they let us make the choice to go out and mingle versus shutting everything down.

There are few if any cures for viruses, including the previous COVIDs.  Yes, it's still out there and the data shows that many more thousands of people are being tested and tested again each day compared to two weeks and six weeks and 2 months ago and each day there are fewer and fewer positive cases reported across the country.  We know that the old and infirm have a higher death rate, so they should take care not to get it.  The precautions being taken currently in many locales are not warranted based on the science.

For example, my county has a population of 313,400 people.  As of today we've had a total of 292 people infected and 26 died.  That's an infection rate of .09% and a death rate of .01% based on the population.  8.9% of those who got it died.  Most of those were over a month ago, don't think we've had a death in 4 or 5 weeks, before the doctor's knew that 3 drug cocktail stops it in its tracks if caught before a person is put on a ventilator.  Don't know the average age for my county of those who died but the average age of those infected is 56.

In my state as a whole, daily numbers of deaths have been falling, again, because doctor's know what to treat the patients with now to defeat it.  Since the 8th, only about 100 people have died from it and we know the average age of those who died is 75 and most, if not all of these folks had other underlying problems that hastened their demise.

I don't want to live in a country that lives in fear, people afraid to interact with one another, walking around with gloves and masks is insane in the membrane.  It's time to go back to work.

Thank you for the detailed response.  It sounds like your county and state have things under control.  I can say similar positives about my region and province.  A few months ago, the virus was spreading rapidly throughout the world.  Some areas like yours and mine were not severely impacted prior to implementing travel, cleaning and distancing restrictions.  Global efforts to slow the spread were/are effective.  (Greater efforts will be even more effective). Once we open up travel and increase our personal contacts, there will be more equality in the devastating impact of this virus.  The only reason we are seeing declines in the rate of growth is because of strict measures.    The word exponential often comes to mind when I read about this pandemic.  It takes a lot of hardship by many individuals to bring these numbers down.  It will take very little relaxation of these measures to make this growth soar to new heights.

The screamers who condemn Sweden’s model fail to include their economic situation. Compared to ours. Calling it a non topic, we’re saving lives. The exercise here if affective just extended the virus. As older people in nursing homes continue to suffer longer. And our economy crashes. Where Sweden has herd immunity and they’re one and done. The economy goes on as before. They will be looked at possibly suffering a little more initially and now done with it. While we suffer longer, especially with unemployment. Meanwhile watch Georgia and Florida. Another  positive result with the malaria drug as reported by a doctor on Laura’s show on Fox last night. Probably not reported on CNN.

My favorite spot opens this weekend. NASCAR. I got a satellite dish in the eighties to get it. Couldn’t get cable. That and MTV. Probably the most puzzling sport to me not starting is baseball. Everything can be controlled in that sport. From the locker room, buses, planes, hotel rooms. They could even go total isolation within the sport if they didn’t trust testing. I guess it must have to do with the spoiled athletes. Contrary to NASCAR.

So, which "Bible" did you prove to yourself to be "perfect and without error"?  There's the original text, written in a variety of languages, then there are a variety of translations of those texts into other languages, and then some translations of those translations.

And I'll just give you the bits that involve predictions of what happens in the future.

Now you guys are talking about the longest running SCAM on EARTH!  The worldwide deaths attributed to religion are millions & millions over the course of APES finally getting bipedalism and advanced intellects due to EVOLUTION.  Pretty sad the crap is still as viral then as now. One would think we would have gotten smarter.

The Human brain is basically the same as it was 50,000 years ago after present day sapiens separated to what we are now.  I guess all we have gained in last 50k years is material things?  I am glad one of those things is a truck though!

They updated the schedule recently.  Need my boy Chase to get a win already.

I used to love Nascar.  Went to Bristol races regularly and made single visits to Darlington and Kansas.  When they repaved Bristol, they ruined it for me.  Next, Toyota enters the picture and appear to have a 1-2 HP advantage over the other teams.  Finally, they went to the playoff system.  I was done after those 3 things.  Now, I'll be watching Sunday just to kill the boredom.

I don’t like the play offs, stages or pit road speed limits. They haven’t lost me yet.

I don't mind the playoffs, but the whole playoff point system annoys me.  So you're a fan of having them do pit road like qualifying for the All-Star race.  That would be interesting to see.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
