What is a pointless comparison is this to seasonal flu.

This is now the 4th deadliest non war year in US history.

Soon will be the third.

H1N1 1918 675,000 dead USA

H2H2 1957 116,000 dead USA

H3N2 1968  68,000 dead USA

2SARS 2020 60,726 dead USA and counting.

H1N1 2009  12,469 dead USA mutation of 1918 strain.

More people have died of COVID-19 than Small Pox, Yellow Fever, Cholera, Scarlet Fever, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Polio, Measles, Whooping cough or HIV for any given year and it's been done in a fraction of time no matter what data you use for the start.

This is a NEW virus. NOBODY has it dead ringer. We know NOTHING.

What is pointless is to act as if "We have this". Not just pointless but dangerous.

More pointless comparisons:

37,000 deaths per year due to Motor Vehicle Accidents in USA - No Shutdown.

88,000 Alcohol related deaths in the USA - No Shutdown, alcohol still legal.

862,000 deaths due to abortion - No Shutdown and still legal.

I assumed this stuff went on so I'm not surprised, but it seems hard to believe this current situation isn't somehow related to the funding/research mentioned in this article.

Arguing over what was is pointless. This is the first time a shut down was done. The comparison between this virus and shutdown should be front and center. We’re seeing antibody testing and increase regular testing possible changing outcomes of percentages. That should be a good thing. Living in unreasonable fear is a bad thing. The original comparison to other flu events was reasonable. If for nothing else people became more aware how deadly it can be. The people who keep pushing unreasonable fear when it’s becoming increasingly possible or likely is less so. The damage to our way of life is at stake. This is a country of choice. This socialist experience should be over. You want to stay home, do it. I get it. I’m armed with information. I’m ready for it to be over.

The death comparison was apple to apples.

Prisons and jails are a bad situation.  Social distancing, forget about it.  The bigger problem though is not the inmates, it's having enough staff to remain healthy.  Most only received PPE a few weeks ago.

I hope so!  There's a vaccine for the flu.  We're "naked" with this Wu-Flu.

Now that they're doing more testing, yes, they should start opening up the country.  But it's something we need to ease into.  For instance, I wouldn't open up Las Vegas like the mayor wants to.  Too populated and the risk is just too high.  Other places that can maintain social distancing, absolutely, open them up.  I'm happy to see NJ opening up the parks and golf courses again.  It's easy to social distance in those types of places.

Unless large numbers of consumers see some testing numbers past 1% and or a vaccine is available, they are not going to mingle. Economic recovery from my perspective is not going to be dependent on employees going back to work, it's going to be dependent on if consumers have the confidence to go out and buy.

LA city told all their residents they could go get a test. The mayor said they could test 18k per day, no limit how many times you can test.  This can give someone like me the confidence to go out and spend.

Casinos would be easy. Every one wears a mask. Plenty of hand sanitizer. Most tables games can be managed by the dealer. They could limit the amount of people. I have played every table game blind it’s possible. The key is masks.

As reported on Tucker Carlson. The WHO is supporting the Swedens Model on the Coronavirus. Saying it was the right approach. I wonder if that changes some people’s mind on this organization? Or are they finally getting it right? There is a second showing Tucker Carlson later tonight.

Of course *ucker misunderstood what the one guy from the WHO said (which of course, may or may not be different from what the organization as a body is saying).  The guy didn't say we should have been more like Sweden all along, but to move more towards what Sweden is doing (as in, slowly opening up the economy).

And note that Sweden has a MUCH high death rate than all the other countries around it, and it's not like it's the land of the old and sick people.

When it came to the show you missed the whole point of the segment. From you I wouldn’t expect anything else. I’m not going to try to explain it. Also for obvious reasons.
