That kind of comparison is useless and has no purpose. The comparison should be whether to have isolation or not. Just how many are really infected and who really is at risk. Just in case there’s a next wave. The Vietnam war and after proved unless you’re in it to win don’t do it. Plus those deaths were youngsters with whole lives ahead of the them. Most people who get this bug are at the other end of the spectrum. And can stay at home. Comparison for comparison sake doesn’t accomplish much, other than gee wiz.

What is a pointless comparison is this to seasonal flu.

This is now the 4th deadliest non war year in US history.

Soon will be the third.

H1N1 1918 675,000 dead USA

H2H2 1957 116,000 dead USA

H3N2 1968  68,000 dead USA

2SARS 2020 60,726 dead USA and counting.

H1N1 2009  12,469 dead USA mutation of 1918 strain.

More people have died of COVID-19 than Small Pox, Yellow Fever, Cholera, Scarlet Fever, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Polio, Measles, Whooping cough or HIV for any given year and it's been done in a fraction of time no matter what data you use for the start.

This is a NEW virus. NOBODY has it dead ringer. We know NOTHING.

What is pointless is to act as if "We have this". Not just pointless but dangerous.

The 68 flu lasted until 1972, it kept coming back and killed mostly old people over 65, kinda like this one. A little over 100K. No shut down. But of course the other shoe will drop. And will take a little longer. The effects of the shut down.

We had a little saying in my family called cussing and discussing. One got more results than the other. Usually the cussing started when a person point is challenged and there’s no wiggle room. No matter how the results change in time. And they are changing.

Exactly, once the expletives start flying I already know that person has nothing reasonable left to say.

And EXACTLY which "expletive" did I use?

Oh yes they are and not for the better nor in your favor. What part of 60K dead are you missing exactly?

Here's the thing. When a person NEEDS a particular outcome and that outcome runs counter to the truth there is no amount of reasoning, no amount of data, no amount of facts, when counter to that need, that will change that persons mind or argument.

Here's a hard fact. You NEED this to be a certain way. I actually understand. You have a personal life long stake in this. Your family does. SO...this isn't a discussion. Is it? Never has been. This is a plea for a consensus you're never going to achieve because it is beyond the ability of rational people to agree with the improbable and fallible. Beyond moral reason. Beyond moral certainty.

Nearly every statement you've made says you know the truth and you know the way out. The EXPERTS in every field readily admit they do not. That sir is absurd telling us that you have a one up on the world of medicine.

I've made no bones about it. I have no idea what a rational person would do other that follow Gods instructions. Listen and comply.

I never said you did. I was making a general statement based upon other posts.

As I said before, I’ll say it again. Once the hysteria subsides. What I’ve been saying will bare out. It already is. The damage from the shut down is already being discussed. The testing is changing percentages. It’s because isolated is being questioned, as it’s found more people had it. Yes death is awful. No matter how it’s caused.

I visited my old business yesterday. There’s a total of 30 people who work there. I haven’t visited since before this virus. I ask my brother if anyone got sick there or any costumers mention anything. I’d had forgotten that in November a nasty flu had hit them. Everyone had gotten it. I was told to stay away at that time. Makes you wonder. Nothing so far. So far the flow of equipment coming in has slowed down. There’s still a back log, just not as deep.

I’m getting anxious to take my first spring trip East. The only hold back is being able to used restrooms in places like Macdonalds etc. Doing a trip with my brother in law this week to Tennessee. He has a truck and camper there for a temporary transfer for his work. His transfer back started just as the shutdown hit. That went bust and turned into a lay-off with the whole shut down. Losing 15K transfer money to boot. He had 30 years with this company and was well regarded. Just imagine what’s happening to others around the U.S. Some think I’m influenced by what’s happening with family members. Most are fairing pretty good or better with the shut down. My brother in law is looking forward to a break. May have to give up a few things. My real estate family members are doing better. More house hunters. My daughter who does hair. Is actually making more on unemployment. She use to complain about time off. No more. So we’re good as a whole. I just see the pain that’s coming.

    • Missing pieces of the Assembly   Detergency vs Solvency   Not the same thing. Detergency is the mechanism that surrounds solid particulates preventing amalgamation. Usually accompanied by a Dispersant whose job it is to keep those encapsulated particles in Suspension. Solvency keeps things that can be dissolved in solution.    Salt is a solid that can be dissolved. Pepper is a solid that cannot be dissolved. A detergent/dispersant is effective on pepper but a solvent is more effective on salt. As long as the solids remain in either state, dissolved or dispersed then they can be be removed with the oil upon change.    How many wranglers does it take to herd cats? Depends on how many cats your herding. How much sponge does it take to soak up water? How much water is there to soak up? Point is most oil blends start with some herding ability and next to zero sponge and recently even fewer wranglers are being sent to do the same job.    So you start with a dozen cowboys and zero cows but at the drive progresses you pick up cows along the way, but not cowboys. At some point you have more cows that the wranglers can handle and some leave the herd. Deposits. And the API has an acceptable number of cows they are willing to let loose. In the ideal world zero is the right number for he rancher but to the butcher....a few lost is fine. This cow is beat to death. Let's move on....   Solvency isn't something oils on the Walmart shelf care about AT ALL. Problem is, you motor does. Fuels driven varnish sticks rings and only a solvent can keep them in check. The bet is that the solids driven portion that plug the expander rings and the oil drain backs and VVT screens and AFM screens will be an issue long before varnish is. Not that it wont be but if they market well enough the consumer can be kept ignorant enough to either believe it is "normal" (A quart in 1 or 2K is normal) OR is kept at bay longer than the first owner is likely to hang on to the unit. Solvency cost money.    Now the OEM's have John Q. Public buffaloed into the belief that the number cows accumulated along the trail is a known and predictable CONSTANT. It isn't. Nor is the rate at which they crossed paths with them. Only the number of wrangles is constant. Or was. Each new generation of oil sees fewer and fewer of them.    So what happens when the number of cowboys is lower (lower TBN) with each seasons trail but the trial is longer (OCI) and the number of cows along that trail continues increase? (Conditions that promote deposits).    For awhile the blenders were on to something. Better bases are harder to degrade (fewer cows) but that was overtaken by a longer trail (OCI) and improved breeding (More cows) while continuing to reduce the cowboy staffing levels (TBN/Aniline #).    Marketing has been successful. We've fired most of the staff, cows breed line bunnies, the trail is ten times longer and we've convinced the boss his ranch is in better shape that it ever was.    That kids is just the cleaning side. The side few pay attention to.

    • Looking for this part for my truck. They don't sell just that one piece and to get it you have to pay over $100 even used for the whole air tube. The piece the hose clamp snaps into that is held on by the screw and nut. If anyone has access to one please let me know.
