4 wheel drive jerky while turning

no need to use 4wd on solid, clear pavement.

the front wheels want to rotate faster than the rear while you are turning, but they can't on solid ground, that's why you feel that.

Sounds like you're trying to blow up your transfer case.

If your truck has Auto 4 wheel drive, you can use that on dry pavement (though I wouldn't) because the transfer case has a clutch pack to allow some slip.  Four high locks the transfer case and is only for slippery surfaces because the front and rear axles track differently around corners and tires need to slip.

turning in 4 wheel drive is jerky and limited. Doesn't it have a clutch in rear end to compensate for this

Welcome to the site.

What situation are you in that you need 4 wheel drive engaged?
