Here’s the GM part number and link to what I ordered from the dealer. If you get it as an option from the factory it comes with the standard tips. For the 6.2 the only option of you install it after delivery is quad tips:

Interesting. Here's the one I have. It's $54 cheaper because it doesn't have the tips.

That’s actually called “GM Accessories by Borla” or something like that. I was confused by this when I was looking into a catback. I went with the GMPE itself as I wanted to use the OEM built in bumper tips. But it’s basically the same exact system.

Also, what@NolaHorn posted a link for isn't what comes on the truck from the factory when you select the performance package. What I posted is. I know you understand this difference@econometrics, but it seems like@NolaHorn doesn't.

Also, comparing the 2 pics you can see everything from the muffler back is different.

Thanks @Transient and @econometrics for the clarification.  Yes, my intent was to purchase the GMPE as an option from the factory.  The closest match for inventory of a truck that had the Performance Package was 350 miles away.  I was already planning multiple modifications so I went with one similarly equipped in inventory locally only without the GMPE and planned to add it afterwards.  The link that @Transient posted was unavailable, or not even listed a being a possibility for the 6.2 GMC to be added at the dealership.  Strangely, there was one similar to the one @Transient posted, but only available for the 5.3.  The one I posted (by Borla) was the only one available for the 6.2 that I could order (through GM).  The muffler itself is stamped Borla as well as the tips.  That being said, a neighbor also has a 2020 AT4 that came from the factory with the GMPE and CAI.  I've heard them separately and they both sound very similar, however now I'm inclined to go down the road, park the trucks next to each other and get a true comparison between the two.  FWIW, I do believe the one I have is simply a Borla Touring with a GM part number.

I'd love to hear the different sounds between the 2. If you can, please post a video.

Btw, my situation was similar to yours. I had the exhaust added to my deal in the paperwork and installed it myself. That was in July. It's unfortunate it is not available now. I really like the sound of my 6.2 with the GMPE.

Let me see if I can simplify this a bit for you guys.  First of all, The picture in the link with the quad tips is not the correct picture but I will get to that later.

The GMPE system IS the Borla Touring System.  It is built at Borla and DEALER installed.  If you order the package when you order the truck it is still a dealer installed item.

The GM "branded" version is only available with the bent tailpipes for the factory bumper tips.

The Borla "aftermarket" systems are available with the bend for the factory tips or straight tailpipes that will accommodate different tips. Borla offers three choices of their tips.

A Borla Touring system with quad tips will be EXACTLY the same as the GMPE system except it wont have the tiny bend at the end of the tailpipe so you can slide tips on it.  All of the other piping, joints, muffler and pipe size are identical.

Again, speaking about 2019+ 6.2L Borla Touring and GMPE systems.

The Sport and ATAK systems are also exactly the same except for muffler/resonator and are available in the same configurations.

OK I finally got a chance to snap a quick video today of a cold start with the exhaust. Part number is above but this is the exhaust I ordered from and installed at the dealer prior to taking the truck home. It came in a Borla box with a Borla stamped muffler and tips. I’m assuming this is just a Borla Touring with a GM part number?  Growing more confused the more I dig in to this.

That sounds very much like the GM Performance exhaust. The GMPE comes in a box with no ink on the outside. It's a plain box like everything else GM packages. It's the shorter one of the 2 boxes in the attached pic.

Sounds really good! Also, Hook 'Em! ??

I worked through this with GM and Borla. There are basically three options for an OEM package for a dual exhaust T1:

  1. The GMPE produce (made by Borla for GM, but no Borla branding on it)
  2. The Borla product sold directly by Borla
  3. The "GM Accessories by Borla" on GMC/Chevy accessories website. You have to buy exhaust tips with this, and it's a Borla-branded product. This - of the three listed here - is the only one that does not work with factory built-in bumper dual exhaust tips.

I think you got #3. But at the end of the day, all three are Borla Touring exhausts.

Awesome.....no more confusion.  I do like the quad tips.

    • Stan, this thread is specifically related to the Duramax 3.0, in the 2019-2026 powertrain subforum. If you'd like to talk about your other vehicles and offer anecdotal stories about them, please consider starting a thread in forum that pertains to your truck, or the other vehicles/ Off-Topic section if they are not a GM truck.
    • Can someone tell me where the video processing module is in a 2023 Silverado? I'm getting conflicting results that it's in the front passenger area or the rear passenger area behind the seat.
    • Yes I agree, its what amounts to free advertising to let people know about his UOA testing company, and not that there is anything wrong with that but certainly that is a motivator for putting out videos about the science of oil as well as other topics such as oil and air filtration etc. The interesting part I found with his last video is not only the physics behind the reason for the varying wear due to a diesels working torque range causing more bearing load and that higher viscosity oil is of benefit, it was also that the chemistry behind the GM Dexos 0W-20 and the Mobil Dexos licensed 0W-20 are far enough apart that its showing up with a difference in wear even though the two oils are matched in viscosity and in that comparison viscosity was not having the finger pointed at it.    There are a few youtubers out there or one anyway that I have watched a bit of who has gone through the pains of accessing various countries manuals for a certain engine platform and while in the US/Canada it may say use 0W-20 or what have you for some Toyota product, in some other countries it sings a very different tune for the very same engine with the typical traditional oil viscosity/ambient temperature charts to help choose which oil viscosity is correct for the conditions the vehicle will be used in and in some cases its taken an engine in a US manual that states only use 0W-20 as per warranty coverage and yet that same engine in certain other countries may have up to a 15W-40 etc oil option that meets the spec. Another words the guy who is driving through Death Valley or Phoenix and south weather at 120f is often being fed a line of bs by the US system that has forced vehicle companies to restrict the warranty to a specific low viscosity oil for anterior reasons as well as the long drain interval suggestions.    Thankfully youtube is free ( yet anyway ) for viewers to sift through information and of course comes with the good and the bad ( truth and lies ) and we can choose to turn off/not watch what a person finds is bs or just not interested in the topic.
    • No doubt... But, as someone who doesn't pay for his services, but who has provided a few views/clicks on his Youtube platform, the data around the Mobil oil testing I think does have some value including to "freeloaders" like me.   A lot of what he's doing is likely showing the OE's work in their oil selection, something that many of us had kind of assumed was true all along, a good balance of both excellent protection and efficiency.
    • Lake Speed is drumming up business for his company just by being in the spot-light so he has a vested interest in stoking the 0W-20 fire.  IMO
