Well, according to my dealer - “sometimes the parts get shipped separately”, but at least he is now onboard that they are not going to be painting the stock black ones.  Phew.

What a crock!  If the dealer says they'll paint them, I'd find a different dealer.  They come pre-painted. They are GM part 84237183 (for white).

I am going to talk to him tomorrow.  My understanding is that "LPO" means the parts are sent to the dealer for them to install.  Hopefully he's mistaken.

Use painters tape to mask off any areas that you don't want to come into contact with wax.  It only takes a few moments and it will make the job easier in the long run.

I didn't get to keep my stock ones. They told me the price I paid ($660) was for the upgraded color matched ones and included them getting the black ones back.

You should get to keep the stock black arch moldings. I know I found the Summit White online for $500 (+/-) with free freight from several GM dealers.

when a vehicle is ordered with dealer installed options, those parts are shipped from a company that services the gm dealers in the area. once vehicle is labeled as shipped ,those parts for that vehicle are then shipped from the warehouse to the destination dealer for that dealer to install. sometimes the vehicle does get there before the parts but most of the time the dealer sits on them vehicle arrives. as far as the old parts coming off if the customer wants them they can have them as dealer is not charged or paying for them in any way. most of the time customer doesn't want anything to do with them and I don't want parts in mislabeled boxes that I didn't buy from gm in my inventory.

as far as color matching and coming from the supplier already painted, any good bodyshop should be able to paint them and make sure paint doesn't come off unless something hard hits molding.

I haven’t been able to find them (in stock) anywhere in summit white.  Just canceled my third order.  They assured me they had them in stock, so I placed the order.  Get an email 2 days later saying they are back ordered.  The person tells me that email was automated that verified stock, it obviously wasn’t.

I removed and prepped my 06' flares on my own and had a body shop spray them.  It was years ago, but seemed like I removed the mold release with Comet and Mineral Spirits. I know I wet sanded them with fine grit paper until they were smooth but had a minor profile for the paint to adhere.  The guy at the body shop gave me exact instructions.  He sprayed them for $150 including material.  Not sure if I have the ambition now days but $660 seems steep!

Just ordered mine from shopchevyparts.com for my 2500 HD sierra. $487.50 it said no stock till end of September but got notice they shipped yesterday. Should be here tomorrow

      And to top it off finally.......................these small GM LS engines are designed to SPIN!!!!!  Why choke them down to just off idle for cruising.  Why/how the "bean counters" have influenced the "engineering department" at GM is beyond me.   They took a solid platform of an engine and turned into a joke in OEM form!!!

      Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving

How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
