From what I hear they are only building Denali's this week and all other's are on a supply constraint.

Well that's sad, it won't include mine then. What's worse is they've discontinued the color I ordered for 2021.

My order date for a 2500 Denali was 1/14. According to chat its still in accepted status with NO build date. Over 5 months of waiting with no build date...

You have to verify a couple of things with your dealer:

  1. Get your dealer to get you a printout of your event code history from GM Workbench -- it only takes them 5 minutes.
  2. If it is still at event code 1100 (Preliminary Order), GM has no clue that you want to buy a truck, and your dealer has not matched your Preliminary Order to an allocation. Also,  the "Order Type" on your Preliminary Order should be listed as "SRE -- Retail Sold" -- see #4 below for explanation. I think GM only uses Preliminary Orders to gauge the demand and if they do, they will base their production partly on whether the orders are type SRE or TRE.
  3. On the event code history it shows the date your order went to each event code -- the date that you went to code 2000 is the date that you finally had an order for a truck and GM finally learns that. Previous to code 2000, all the timing was all on you and your dealer, not GM.
  4. Once your order finally was matched to an allocation (code 2000), the "Order Type" should have shown "SRE -- Retail Sold". If is was "TRE -- Retail Stock", your order is placed in a lower priority and will take longer before GM commits to giving a TPW (Target or Tentative Production Week) and therefore, the date when your truck is scheduled to be broadcast for production at the plant is also delayed. TRE -- Retail Stock is for dealers to order a truck to put into their stock on the lot.
  5. I have never been able to get a TPW from online chat and they have always said I have to check with my dealer to find out what my TPW is that GM has assigned to my order. Other guys have had luck with online chat giving TPW's.

I hope this helps to give you more info on your order.

Silverado or GMC? Gas or diesel?

I know you aren't asking me specifically but I thought I'd point out that my Denali order was gas.

Silverado and Diesel. I can tell you my dealer put the order in as a priority 2 and is a volume dealer, I am assuming that helped speed things up.

When did you order yours?

I placed the order at my dealer on Jan 14. I don't know how they placed it or any other details. I checked in early March and was told that there was a gas engine shortage and Chevy was getting the majority of engines for fleet orders so my truck was delayed. Of course in late March the plants shut down and when they came back up I checked back with the dealer and was told it was still at "preliminary" status and in their opinion I should cancel and reorder as a 2021. I explained to him that wasn't an option because I would be giving up a huge incentive and supplier discount and here I sit. Now I'm finding out the color I wanted was canceled for 2021. Ugh.

Just did the online chat and was told the following. Looks like it will arrive in NJ next week.

The vehicle was last seen in Walbridge, OH and the estimated time of arrival in Twin Oaks, PA is on June 27th, 2020.

Just found out I am now at event code 4800. Truck unloaded at railyard and awaiting truck transport to dealer.

That database isn't intended for 'live' updates, and is often behind.

I might be at your dealer....
