I called my dealer the other day and his boss was in a conference call with GM. The tentative date for Flint plant to start up is first week in May. I also asked him about parts for the GMC Sierra 2500hd  AT4 and he said my truck was far enough long in the build schedule that all the parts to build my truck were present and accounted for at the plant so if they fire up the truck can be built with that plant alone. Not familiar on how truck building goes but it sounds like he knew his stuff. Crossing my fingers.

I think Michigan Governor has extended the stay at home order into May sometime so maybe not the first of may.

I just talked to the dealership I had originally ordered from. Original production time again was this week/last week. They said my truck would likely be canceled anyways.
I had to sacrifice a few options, but glad I got one off the lot now.

Yup, I was told a tentative date of May 4 or 11. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Yep, saw the same thing and they suggest the UAW might be agreeable to that date. Maybe I will have my truck by 4th of July!!

@MTU AlumCurious, what do you do for GM?

Start up will not begin with a full 3 shift run at rate.  The weekly numbers will be much lower than the output prior to the shutdown when Flint comes back online.  Look for one shift for at least the first week or two with a second shift after that.   The HD trucks are scarce on the lots so there is incentive to quickly ramp up production but GM is being careful to ensure the safety of the team members to avoid having to go through this again.  Market demand will be a major factor going forward.  Hopefully the consumer confidence will support the market but many areas of the country are still unsure what their future holds.  States and local municipalities that buy many of these vehicles for their fleets will not be spending money that they no longer have.

I have a friend whose son works at the Flint plant. He told me that even when the Flint plant opens, stay at home order would need to be lifted in 4 OTHER states before they could make trucks again because they depend on those states for essential parts.

He said one current rumor floating around the plant is that when they fore back up, they will be making 2021's. The other current rumor has them making enough 2020's only to satisfy pre existing orders before they switch to 2021's.

One fall out of this, just MY opinion, is that there will be very few changes between the 20's and the 21's as there wont be much time to refit the line. That would be true amongst all manufactures.

makes sense....especially just making enough 2020 to fill orders...since not much change pretty simple to do....

I feel for the guys waiting....my ordeal of shopping and thinking I might have had a few and watch em disappear only to do it all over again was painful enough.....but to have ordered something exactly way you want it and not know but wait and wait would kill me....

In cali yeah getting models with certain features is scarce....if you want HC or LTZ their seems to be quite a few around but LT models with certain features is tough....they are discounting the diesels heavily as well, idk if its beacsue of higher price tag or they are having tougher time selling....buying mine I had to jump up or down not a lot in between.....if willing to travel than especially no trade much easier

So what does everyone think, are we going to see the production line rolling again on May 18th? I haven't seen much new information in the past day or two.

GM's first quarter earnings is tomorrow.  GM probably will probably provide a target date (May 18) like FCA.

I think we still start seeing updates to some of the orders this week with a few people back in the plants getting ready to go back to work. My order with TPW 3/16 might update, I think it is built and parked somewhere since they gave me a VIN number on March 20. Good luck to everyone else waiting for their order

Just got an update on mine, they say it will be rebroadcast for production. No records of the VIN they gave me back on March 20. The saga continues....
