Clicking sound when trucks off but I’m still in it

I was wondering if any of y’all know the noise I’m talking about: 2020 LT TB 5.3

 

you turn off your truck, but don’t get out of it so the radio is still playing but the truck just makes a clicking noise after a moment of two, and it’s a double fast click sound coming from the dash area I think

 

just looking for some insight on what it could be or if it’s normal

Relays cycling off? It could be anything. These trucks are loaded with tech.

Your guess is as good as mine, I’m used to an old 01 ram not all this high tech stuff so I was just curious

My f250 used to do this rhythmic cycle sound. While it was off but before I opened the door. It would do it for like 20 minutes straight. Every couple of seconds it would tick-tick-tick then silence. Then tick-tick-tick again. I never tried tracking it down though. Think it was something with the ac blend door or the one that directs the air through the system.

Yeah that’s exactly the sound, and it just caught me off guard cause I’ve never had it happen in any vehicle I’ve owned

 

ah so I’m guessing it’s pretty normal for the truck then? Let it do it’s thing basically

It’s probably some system that stays in “waiting” until you open the door which tells it it’s ok to shut down. I honestly don’t know. Like I said, way too much tech in these newer vehicles.

yeah agreed there is, tried to get the least amount of tech in the LT TB, just to keep away from these sorts of problems but who knows

My 2019 TB does it, and the 20’ loaner I’m in now, does it. There just relays cycling on and off. My 15’ never did this, but seems to be standard on these new ones. Prolly a safety to make sure all circuits are closed when the truck turns off

I have a 2019 Denali duramax and I’ve heard something similar. Then one day had the hood open and truck was off. And one of the truck doors was opened and closed. I heard the sound and caught a glimpse of a linkage move on the top side of the motor. The truck hadn’t even been running when this happened and key not in the ignition. Is this what happens with yours?

You should hear the sounds my 3.0 Duramax makes when it is shut off.

"Clack, clack, clack, clack, weeeze!".

Seems there is a valve that sends water to various parts of the engine and passenger compartment at different temps when cooling/heating.

After the engine is shut down the valve cycles through several positions for some reason.

Part of that is because its pumping the DEF fluid back into the tank

I hear it in mine all the time if I sit in it while it's off. There's a couple of relays behind the gas/brake peddles. They usually click a few minutes after you shut the engine off. Think they control park lights or something. Almost sounds like a mouse under the dash.

Have the 3.0 Duramax.  Its actually the turbo actuator and variable intake cycling making the noise.  Haven't heard the DEF pump Just the "Clack, clack, clack, clack, weeeze!   The  look on peoples faces when the hear it !!!!! LOL
