2017 Silverado transmission question

Hey guys just a quick question my 2017 Silverado 5.3 4x4 Texas Edition trans went out and I’m going to replace it from what I checked it has a 7CKA trans. What I want to know is would a 5CKA fit it and work and what would need to be done so it can if possible and what is the difference between them ? Thank You

Both look like 6 speeds.

 

The transmission itself would bolt in if both are 6 speeds but the TCM must be programmed to your truck before you can even drive it.

how many miles on it?  

doesnt the 4x4 have a different transmission case to mate up the 4x4 transfer case gismo jobber, ????

Yeah, you want the same "type" of transmission (from a 2wd vehicle if yours is 2wd or a 4wd vehicle if yours is 4wd).  While there typically is just a bolt on adapter to make it mate up to a transfer case, the output shaft is also typically different, and they generally are a hassle to swap (for example, for the 4l80e in my truck, the output shaft is different between 2wd and 4wd, and it is 3rd part you install into a bare housing).
