Roy Hutchinson Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 Guys...need some info please. I recently purchased a 2020 Silverado RST Z71. The dealer installed the 2.5 inch Trail Boss lift along with 35x12.5x22 tires. The wheels are OEM with a +28 offset. As you can imagine there is some rubbing. Initially I thought the rubbing was from the inner wheel well liners but it turns out to be the upper control arms. Now, I've contacted the dealer Service Manger and he thinks the fix would be adding a 1.5 to 2 inch level kit above the already 2.5 inch suspension lift that's on there. The truck sits with a rake so adding the level would fix that but will it fix the upper arm rubbing issue. Appreciate any info. This is the first truck that I've ever owned with anything higher than a level kit. Any info would be appreciated. 1
Ryguy Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 (edited) Those guys are trying to take your money. All you have to do is add a set of hub centric wheel spacers maybe 1/2” and you’re good. Adding more lift to the front end is not going to fix your tire rubbing on the UCA. Edited April 25, 2020 by Ryguy 1

A small wheel spacer will fix the rubbing on the UCA! Post more pics of the truck. Happy to see someone running 35s leveled.
Flatblack83 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 (edited) Not sure how much it rubs but mine rubbed with 295s, I used a 1/4 inch spacer so the factory wheel studs were long enough without any problems. I don't think 1/2 inch will make it safely without longer studs. You should have atleast 5 at minimum full turns of threads with the nut. I think this problem in your case is why you see guys running the 35 11.50s. Edited April 25, 2020 by Flatblack83
Roy Hutchinson Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 Thanks guys. I do appreciate everyone's advice. I definitely looked into adding spacers however, I decided to call the dealer and I told them to fix the rubbing issue at no cost to me. They installed the 2 inch level and it fully eliminated the rubbing issue on the UCA...I still have very minimal rub on the mud flaps but that's an easy fix. I guess 35x12.5s will work on stock 22" wheels with less than a 6inch lift. I feel much better now than a week ago..lol thanks guys... Silverado4x4 Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 So now you have a 4.5 leveling kit? Man I would love to see pictures of the CV axle angles. I bet there not going to last long. 3

Its something I'm going to watch very closely and if i start experiencing issues you can rest assured they will be making repairs at no cost to me...

Good call on the dealer install aspect.
Silverado4x4 Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Yeah I don't like that angle at all, worse when you go to full lock on the steering for the lower boot. The failure will be the boot at the front diff. how its pretty much fully extended at the top. But yes keep an eye out on them if they start slinging grease there done or if you feel or hear a popping noise when making a sharp turn.
Danny CR Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 I had this issue on my 2020 RST. I have a 3.5 inch rough country lift, with 33’s open country r/t. I went with a spacer for now. Im still wondering if getting a higher suspension lift would eliminate the inner tire from rubbing with the inner control arm?
lapoolboy Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 So essentially they added a level kit to the OEM Trailboss 2" lift they installed originally? Hopefully, the level kit they used is TB/AT4 specific which generally include UCAs...which kit did they use?
