I remember seeing a post in the forums where the chrome strip was removed. Believe it was heated with a heat gun and “peeled” off. Not sure if I’d recommend that.

I'd be interested to know what the surface is underneath, but I would not be willing to be the one to test it out

It’s just plastic for the grill/fog/mirror/door handles.

Yeah those parts I already knew and took care of, what we were discussing was the power running boards which I expect are not simply plastic beneath the chrome, or at least as flimsy as the parts you listed.

Ah, my assumption was the plastic after the heat gun comment.

Running boards/bumpers are steel.. sandblasting would take care of it. Although, a good 60/80 grit scuff and epoxy primer will be sufficient.

Door molding around the windows are aluminum, Same as above.

I finally found the topic where the chrome strip was removed from the factory powered step/running board.  Doesn't look too bad.  See link below.

That makes complete sense.  Simple to do which is good to know.  Right now I  like having mine wrapped, but not sure what I will do down the road

I’d love to trade if you’ve got black window trim and/or door handles. 2021 Sierra SLT

Did you notice when you were installing your grill if the outside trim was able to separate? I am thinking of buying the same grill for my AT4, but only want the insert. I'd like to re-attach it to the original trim piece as it is the body color (white).

Thanks

Not sure if you ever got an answer, but yes, you can remove the grille surround. I did it. I got an sle grille already paint matched and swapped the outer trim. It’s about a dozen tabs you have to carefully pry apart. Once you get a couple released it’ll go. Got rid of my chrome grille surround and color matched it. Left the Denali center chrome. Looks way better.
