Positive. Cycling the AC on and off causes the noise to happen and not happen. It is most definitely the compressor. Sounds like it’s over or undercharged. Still cools adequately. I asked them to verify the Freon fill but they just said “sounds like all the rest of them”. So hear I am, asking a simple yes or no question and getting everything but that. Typical modern day forum, amirite??

Well your kind of hoping for too much if you think a short paragraph is going help you out diagnosing one of todays vehicles over an internet forum.

My guess then is the compressor is probably a made in china pile of crap part, the ac systems at least in my model years 14-18 have countless issues from compressors to the condensers and even the evap.

I’m not asking for a diagnosis. I asked a simple “can you hear yours too” question. I mean, seriously, how much more detail do you need than that? I listed the engine, noise, and conditions that cause it. Like I said, that’s a modern day forum for you.

I can not hear the A/C  compressor in my 6.2. if yours is audible above the blower motor and a low radio volume then i would say something is very wrong with yours.

Nothing wrong with today's forums, just impatient idiots with A.D.D. who expect an answer 10 seconds after posting it!

Good luck with your problem, i wouldn't want to upset you trying to help you or anything, have a nice life.

Yeah no problem. Just saw your “6.2 engine whine” post from 2016, ironically. Seems we have/had similar concerns, albeit 4 years apart. Although I know it’s coming from the compressor which is why I asked if others hear it too.

Sorry for snapping at you, it's been a rough couple weeks, as i'm sure for everyone here.

Listening to your video though my opinion would be that something is up with the compressor, though that might need a fight to get the dealer to say something other then working as intended since it still blows cold.

Because the local dealer isn’t allowing that due to the coronavirus.

I’ll just wait until they go back to regular operations.

Thanks for the help everyone!

On my 2018 6.2 mine is quiet. Tell your dealer the coronavirus is over just look at all the cities every day and night.

Yes, I've noticed the A/C on my 2020 6.2L is noisier than on my 2016 6.2L. Both inside the cab and out. Just figured it is what it is.

Yes, I have heard that on my 2020 6.2. Im in TX, so the air is blasting so hard that I don't notice it.

I can confirm what you are describing, I have a 2021 Silverado LT and can hear this humming noise, it is more noticeable when the outside temp is 90f+.  My truck has 2565 miles as of today.

not sure if this is normal or not.
